Anyone of you who are good enough to dock a DG at alt of 1km?? if so, what speeds?, and how are you able to do it??

Any mfd's that could do this?

I can't recall if it requires atmospheric docking or attachment but this addon would give you an interesting challenge anyway: [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3639"]Aircraft Refuel Project[/ame]

It's fairly simple: put 1 DG into hovering autopilot mode, and approach it with another on hovers too. What's the next step after such a docking might be, is a good question, though.

I can't believe it

I tried having the DG hovering at alt 1km, but it wasn't enough just hovering without forward motion. And when meeting with it, i wasn't able to go backwards in the same speed as the other dg.

I would like to see a recording, video, or picture of such a docking. It can seem very difficult doing it with 2 plain DGs to me.

Seemed to work ok. I started with the DG and DG-s scenario. Had both with surface MFD and docking MFD. Had the first with "L" for level, hover up slowly to as close to 1Km as possible. I slowed the rate of climb to about .3 or .4 m/s as I got close to 1Km and hit the "A" (alt hold) nearest I could to 1000 meters. It seeded to hover at about 999.8 meters. Then I did the same with the other and I was very close perhaps 999.7 was what it came to. Then with the second I rotated in yaw to find the first and used LIN to move over into place and rotate to start approaching to dock. I turned on the record when about 1 minute before docking and turned off the record a couple minutes after docking.

There was a bit of motion but a bit of main thrust for a split second reduced to about 2 or 3 m/s.

Right, now what.

I tried to do something like that once. I had 2 Shuttle-A's on Uranus's moon Oberon, and had both of their hover engines on, and tried to dock them while hovering. I couldn't do it, because I couldn't get them to stop relative to each other and be close enough to use the RCS, lol.

Uh-huh-huh-huh.... dragonflies scoring....cool...

Got back from work and had a look at this post, did not seem too much to ask. Do it by eye, no MFDs. Here's my first attempt, but don't think I will do anymore to try and improve. It is a bit wierd....

you are all right

Why didn't i just fly up, i was trying it at 200m/s! hehe. thank you everyone:)

And also I wouldn't land when docked. ;)
But I haven't tried it in atmosphere. Could be interesting.

I have been trying to do this one in the DGIV. So far I have had 4 crashes and 8 deaths. Hovering is hard.
