I have been able to dock with the non-rotating ISS. While approaching the rotating Station V of the World of 2001, I do not seem to have any control once I attempt to rotate with the station. Following advice, I do not rotate the ship until I am within a few meters of the station. The green cross of the Docking MFD rotates around the central point. Nothing I try will move the green cross to the centre. Is there a special technique or procedure that I need to follow?

I don't even know it you have to exactly follow the same motion. Just line everything up and approach at less than or equal to 0.10 m/s of your closing velocity.

Are you switching back and forth between rotation and translation? When I first attempted it myself I was all over the place.
Docking with Station V can be a pain when you first start out. What I would recommend is to try to master the stock scenario with Luna Object 1 (docking with a ShuttleA). If you haven't already got the Luna-Ob1 replacement (shiny or dark version from OrbitHanger) I recommend it, it helps to have a docking port to aim for.
The Worlds of 2001 also has another rotating station (Station III) that might be easier to dock with, a single dock per side, and no "hanger" to deal with. Good for practice.
Another point... Open any scenario and use the scenario editor and add Station V (or IV), you can set use the angular velocity button to set your bank angle for whatever you want it to be (degrees per second). If you find 1 degree per second a manageable target, then speed it up. After some practice you can line up on Station V further out, and you can recreate the movie scene with the Orion and hum "Blue Danube" to you hearts content.
Happy Orbiting, and practice, practice, practice.

PhantomCriser - thanks for the tips and encouragement. You read my mind - yes I am trying to re-live the scene from the film and I am all over the place - frustrating! I will practice with the Luna-Ob1 replacement and Station III. Cheers.
