I keep getting these weird dreams about orbiter. Last night I had one where I was in Germany, Stuttgart I think, except it looks nothing like the real life one, not that I've ever been there (or out of the USA for that matter). I remember the city being completely empty. I was flying a shuttle and my friend was in a DGIV. Somehow I dropped a nuke out of the cargo bay, and bailed out. The nuke detonated without causing any damage whatsoever. I then bailed out of the shuttle. My friend landed on top of a building, and kept pointing out how he made a better landing than me. I was gonna meet him on top, but the elevator took too long and he parachuted off. Maybe instead of flying orbiter nonstop for 5 hours I should play some piano

yeah, i've been having dreams like that too...

just tonight i dreamt i was flying on some strange ARES-Launcher-based Lunar shuttle... but for some reason it had to be launched from a flying 747.... it was strange...

and i kept thinking it wasn't all too well modelled, and it didn't inspire a lot of safety during flight

dreams are weird

Wow, those are some awesome dreams you guys are having. I only ever get dreams of working and being made fun of.

Did you have one the night before? Incidentally, at I was chatting with Izack on IRC at about UTC 6:30 (I was up until at least 4:22 local time) about making some place for people to post dreams.

I must have had some and forgot...I want weird dreams...
I need more REM sleep. My sleep habits are becoming unlucky, not to mention unhealthy. Darn you, Sunkist Solar Fusion, with caffiene...in the small print. On the back.

damn i dont mind having dreams like that.

itll be nice to keep all the people i hate as UMMU's and then drop them down and let tem burn up :)

Thanks to playing orbiter intensely for a week, I was able to have a full, proper dream of me living on the ISS. Repeatedly.
I love you Orbiter. :)

Hmm... let me see here....
Best Dream: Succesfully deorbiting Skylab.

Worst Dream: Hull breach at Mach 11.2 you and the crew are dead.

The only dreams of videogames I currently recall are about doom and orbiter.

1 --Doom--
This was basically about those brown monsters sliding and running around in a basement-warehouse like level. There may have been some h.r. geiger aliens style creatures in there too. Which would then corroborate with some the aliens add-on wad.

Uhm nothing special until you consider that I had the dream a few years BEFORE doom came out. I was completely flabbergasted at the realism and how much it resembled the nightmare. The only real difference seemed that in the dream the brown crate/cargo containers could slide around and make a dynamic maze. In doom that doesn't happen that way. And that made doom one of my most favorite game for years to come! How often does one get to play an interactive version of a past nightmare? Complete with sights and sounds!

The best orbiter-style dream I can recall would be flying along in the cargo bay of a b-52. And of course the b-52 was carrying something like an x-15. And the purpose of this was to do exactly what you'd expect. All these sub-orbital hops. And this was different only in that it was commercialized. And everything was in storm-night purple and night-vision-hud green. Elements of orbiter seemed to be here and there like the displays and some sounds and the out of the cockpit views. The scenery was like a dim blue and purple and green mountain range in front and a flat plain full of funnels behind us. There was nobody on board except me and some girl. Most everything was automated, but I found out that I could easily get manual control. About half-way out we were ordered to launch the x-15 style plane, empty.. And then return to base.

I only remember scraps of my dreams and I'm not sure if these were day dreams instead. All I know is as in the real world and in the Dream it is a good thing I don't have passengers. Shortest running airline/spaceline thing EVER:rofl:

Hmmm... very consistent dreams you have. I usually go from flying a Shuttle one second to shooting mutant grisly bears the next...

I only had a single dream about orbiter, it was a few months ago (I keep records of my dreams) - I was on some generic spacecraft, on a lunar transfer orbit. I counted my fingers and checked my watch (a lucid dreaming exercise I reinforce by doing it all the time during the day), only to discover I had eight fingers and the watch had five hands. However, instead of recognising that I was in a dream, I attributed it to radiation poisoning and decided to ram the Moon.

I've only ever had one space dream. I dreamt that a Progress resupply vehicle was approaching the ISS. However, when it made contact with the docking port, the latches didn't fire and it rebounded off the port and went tumbling off into space. :P

The following day, Progress M-06M's docking to the ISS was aborted.

But I don't believe in all that psychic rubbish.......right guys? :shifty:

I've had few space dreams, and even fewer Orbiter dreams. I do remember one dream involving orbiting a ruined Earth (desert continental interiors, city-covered coasts with discoloured patches of land everywhere). It didn't have much to do with Orbiter, but the sensation of orbiting above the Earth was the same.

The space dreams I've had have been... odd. But fun.

Dreams, hmmmm...

Once I had a dream I was descending the ladder of the apollo lunar module and suddenly I realized that I would never be able to fit back through the hatch with this suit on.

Once I had a dream I was on a Vostok spacecraft and was being asked to fly it manually however since the craft didn't have simulated control panels or anything (it was Jekka's Vostok addon) I couldn't and mission control was yelling at me and I went insane and broke a window and vented the atmosphere out into space and died.

LOL.
I had an orbiter dream only once (that I recall, at least). I flew... something winged up into space (except, I wasn't doing a whole lot of flying. I was far too entertained with being weightless). We docked with the ISS. Then ... something happened, and I crawled into some sort of capsule decent craft, and began reentry procedures. Then I began to panic, screaming "I've never landed a Capsule before!! Why couldn't we take the Ravenstar?". Something about not knowing the angle to point the thing at. I woke up before we landed, but I don't THINK it was because I crashed - I just woke up....

However, with my history of reentries, I probably came in too hot and incinerated before I realized I had a problem.

I've had several Orbiter and sci-fi related dreams:

1. I'm flying a DG and Ellen Ripley starts yelling at me from one of the seats.

2. I'm flying an Arrow and a large, white, sugary, and sticky asteroid appears.

3. The chief engineer of my Arrow turns out to be possesed by something named Zuul.

4. A Big Daddy from BioShock appears on my research base on Pluto, and manages to repair
the damage done to the base due to metorite impacts (that rivet gun helps a lot).

5. Just when you thought that was it, I find myself locked in my zero-g stateroom on a luxury space cruise with Ripley while she's taking off her uniform and smiling at me...

Lucky people. I don't remember any dream about Orbiter as far as I can remember. I think I have though. I do remember one where I was flying an SR-71 and I even felt the G-forces. Weird. Any suggestions on how to get an Orbiter dream? It would be beyond magic to dream about being in space because aside from the real thing and a simulator, that is the closest thing.

Wait, nvm. I had one that I was going up the tower to be strapped in the Shuttle and as soon as I got in it ended. I was so pissed beyond words. :(
