Normally I don't post random stuff like this, but this is just too funny:

Florida teen finds rocks in Nintendo DS box

by Ben Silverman

April 27 2:53 P.M.
Jodi Wykle knew her son would be thrilled when she gave him a new Nintendo DS for his birthday.
Instead, he was rocked.
According to WTSP-TV, the confused teen opened up his gift only to find bunch of stones and a rolled up Chinese newspaper in place of the popular handheld.

Needless to say, mom was equally stunned.
"When he opened it, he was pulling the seal off, my sister-in-law carries a pocket knife and she opened it and that's when he pulled it out and it was Chinese newspaper and a bunch of rocks," she explained.
The troubling discovery prompted the Florida woman to contact the local Wal-Mart where she bought the curious box and complain, but reportedly workers there told her it wasn't their problem and that she should contact Nintendo instead. Of course, Nintendo told her roughly the same thing, leaving mother and son with a $138 box of rocks.
"They don't want to do nothing. They want me to keep the box of rocks. I'm not buying a box of rocks for $138," she said.
Amazingly enough, however, Wal-Mart soon caved after learning that the same box of rocks had been previously returned by another disgruntled customer. How exactly it made it back onto store shelves remains a mystery, but for her troubles, Wykle was given a full refund and a $20 gift card.
It's not the first time Wal-Mart has gotten into hot water for selling a questionable handheld. Earlier this month, a PSP system bought at a different Wal-Mart store in Florida was found to contain a memory stick filled with pornographic images.

All I got was a rock.

This is the best line:

They want me to keep the box of rocks. I'm not buying a box of rocks for $138," she said.

Perhaps the reporter should have asked her exactly what she would be willing to part with for a nice box of rocks.

Too funny.... Wal-Mart placed the same box of rocks back on the shelf.:rofl:

Speaking about Idiotus mindblancos pandemic...

I've seen people pay a lot more than $138 for a bunch of 'landscaped' rocks in their garden...

I would have sued their socks off. Having to wait for someone else to screw up just to get a refund... Sheesh.

Now that it has been in the news, you can try to get more than $138 for it on Ebay.

That remembers me of a story from Australia, where a supermarket worker bought a new DS for her son from the supermarket she worked in, only to find at home, that the box was filled with meat!
Later it was found that another worker ther who was not satisfied with working conditions, had replaced the devices with the meat.

I haven't heard that story. I don't know how much a DS weighs but meat is a pretty expensive replacement, the way prices go these days :P

This is why Walmart is a very horrible store sometimes because of these problems. dont Ever buy electronics there. what they sell is stuff made by those communist at china and the reason why did this was because they probably want more money so they try to scam the costumers without paying for the electronics to make it. now since I read this I dont think ill ever buy anything from there again.

Uh, okay...

Why do US people then buy Chinese stuff at all? jgrillo, you are about to commit the same error as England did in the late 19th century.

Because it was "known to the people" in England that German products are bad and primitive and of low quality, and Germans are especially bad, they decided to mark all products from Germany with the text "MADE In GERMANY" as warning for the customers.

It backfired historically. Suddenly, people found out that many high-quality products they have used for years came from Germany and "MADE in GERMANY" turned out to be a sign of high quality and advertisement for the German Industry - despite being actually created to have the opposite effect.

You do the same to china. I am damn sure, you use a lot of stuff, made in China. Often of actually pretty high quality - despite you not expecting it.

China is not always just making bad quality copies of western products - often they also create good stuff of their own. They may be communists, but they are smart communists.

Question is: is a box of Chinese rocks better than American rocks?

Of course. If you are in America, it should be pretty hard getting Chinese rocks delivered.

It's a simple free-market problem. Why pay for expensive American union-made rocks when cheaper Chinese rocks from a sweatshop can be had?

Of course, this is immoral! Let's all stage a protest against Chinese sweatshop rocks! Let's demand that WalMart stop their evil rock-trading practices!

This is true. I see a lot of light fittings manufactured in China - some are top notch (better quality than many Australian or US made ones, especially in the high pressure aluminium die-casting), and others not so great. Generally the quality has a fairly close relationship to the attitude of the owners/operators, IMHO.

Hrrrm, a Nintenda DS or a box of rocks? Both hold about the same interest to me and neither are worth what they paid for it.

You really do not understand. the reason I dont trust them is that most of the products made from them such as toys were infact made CHEAP so that their government wont waste their "precious" money for the safe stuff. this is why most toys made from them were in fact made from Lead paint. There were 50 cases in 2007,and most of them were from their cheap method of painting the toys, and you call that smart. seriously please research a little more. As a precaution I reported that post as stupid and unnessecary to the forum. if you dont know what to say then dont speak. :@
Thats why Im against communism. because they dont care about the safety of their people and their costumers.

That's all well and good, but I didn't start this thread to talk about China and trade policy. It's a funny news story, keep it light.

There's this guy I know at work. Whenever two of us are talking about something and the conversation even remotely touches on politics, he has to march over to our desks and start lecturing us with all his conservative right-wing theories and BS. I think he just listens to Rush Limbaugh all day and thinks we want to hear it. He wrecks every conversation. Like a nun at a bachelor party, that one. Don't be that guy, please. Have a beer and relax.

Hey Im a rush fan and Am a right wing guy. it seems like this forum is a BIG left sided community. well you know what if you are going to criticize me for these comments. then stop. because I am sick of people being so idiotic at things that they dont know what you are talking about and It is you that dont know what you are talking about.
