I recently downloaded Seth Eden's level 10 Mars and Earth textures. However when I am in a scenario, It doesn't cover the entire planet, only the areas that are within a certain range of the camera. I am wondering if this is supposed to happen or is something wrong, because it doesn't look very good.

isnt it supposed to do that?? i would think that it keeps the framerate from burying itself in the bedrock

I have seen videos that state that they were using these textures, and it looked like it completely covered the planets even from a distance.

Is it a 'sharp' cutoff, kinda like the default textures around KSC? or is it more gradual?

Are you talking about LandSat Earth?

You need to d/l a pack of his Earth L8 (or is it L9?) as well. http://downloadorbitersim.com/?page_id=93

I guess you see L8 at a distance and L10 up close. If you have only his L10 and not his L8, then the color tones you see far away will be default and will not match what you see up close. The result is patchy.

If you use his L8, then all the color tones will blend. The transition from far to near will be almost seamless.

Well That did work for the earth textures, but what about Mars?

I'm not sure, because I haven't tried it, but since LandSAT textures were created for Orbiter 2006, and there are no low resolution (levels 1-8) Mars textures to download, you most probably need Orbiter 2006 level 8 Mars textures. You can try that. They can be downloaded from this page (Mars L8.zip).
