Just curious, why are some of the most detailed earth tiles on the add on hangar for earth such low resolution compared with some of the publicly available satellite imagery?
I would assume it's just because no one has made new tiles yet.

Part two of the question. I might attempt to make some of my own tiles of some places like Canaveral. Is it hard to do?

One word: SIZE!
A highly detailed (i.e. Google Earth resolution) tile of the KSC region would be larger than the Orbiter program, and would take forever to load...

True, I didn't think of that. But taking for ever to load would be an issue for the end user (I'll check the size of some of these pictures in the morning). But just off the top of my head doing hi res tiles of small areas shouldn't make to huge of a file size difference. People who have pretty decent pc's shouldn't have to much trouble unless you use that kind of detail on a whole planet.
Also follow up question, does any one know if it's possible/how to pull textures directly from google earth's ground and 3d buildings?

Could some one link a tile tutorial?
