Is there any theory and mathematics that support the idea of gravity becoming equal and opposite of the expansive force of dark energy? And thus the Universe would reach a state of "equilibrium". If there is where could I read about it? Just curious.

That was Einstein's motivation for introducing the cosmological constant (which is a candidate for the dark energy) - he wanted his equations to allow for a static (non-expanding) universe. For some fine-tuned values of energy density in the Universe and the cosmological constant this would be possible, but such a state would be unstable - meaning that a slight perturbation would cause the Universe to start expanding or collapsing. A state of stable equilibrium is probably not possible.
