Experts weigh in on security of Pakistan's nukes

It's more worrying than the breakup of the cold war, for the simple reason that if Islamic fundamentalists (and that includes theocratic governments such as Iran) got their hands on nuclear weapons, they'd have no qualms about using them against us.

Unfortunately, I don't see it being too many more years before we see some sort of nuclear terrorism.

Im not too worried about a nuclear winter try living in Canada!

seriously though you are absolutely right about the fact that a few "shall be not named" "Countries" want these weapons for their own threatening behaviors . My biggest fear is mre destabilization of afganhistan. My country has a large stake in the war there and we are finally making some headway there. I would hate to see what would happen if the borders collapsed

I'm not quite sure a nuclear winter will be a problem, as I would suspect nuclear terrorism to be one-off targets. But the death toll will be far higher than in New York 6 years ago.

And, not to start preaching here (!), but while the world buries its head in its hands to the problems of these dangerous religious ideologies, and continues to live in fear of upsetting Islam by criticising it, the probability for such terrorism continues to grow.

Frankly I don't see why we're not liberating Pakistan yet.

Let's see, Iraq:

-Had a totalitarian government we helped install but lost control of, with a terrible human rights record:
-Was suspected to have chemical and biological weapons, and had upgraded Soviet "Scud" missiles.

Pakistan:

-Has a totalitarian government we helped install but lost control of, with a terrible human rights record
-Is known to posses nuclear weapons and intermediate-range ballistic missiles capable of delivering their nuclear weapons just about anywhere in india, central asia or the middle east

Where's the logic here?
