News F-22 crashes in California desert near air base

The word is that the pilot lost control during an test flight, sounds like a stall due to the aircraft exiting the acceptable performance envelope. I believe it was carrying quite an external load, so maybe that interfered with the aerodynamics.

Anyway, hope the pilot got out in one piece, doesn't sound too promising though.

Yikes. I don't want to pay that bill.

Sorry.

Two crashes are not quite a good thing for the program, especially when substituting other fighters with the F-22.

The pilot was a father of a student at my school. We heard the crash from our school in Lancaster, CA a long way from where he crashed. It sounded sort of like a sonic boom x5, and all of us, including his son heard it.
