OHM F-224 'Firehawk' v1.03

with the D3D9 R10 client (Orbiter_ng.exe), the labeled buttons and display are gone.
Did you try if it's the same in (D3D9Client's) GDI compatibility mode?

No, but I tried now, and still no success.

I also have the same problem.

Just found a third d3d9 bug: under some settings EVA leads to instant CTD. When I switch off most of the advanced settings and run it in true full screen mode it seems to works. Trying to track down the problem.
The disappearing HUD may be connected with the Arrow Freighter, I have the same with the default Deltaglider when approaching the Arrow.
No clue about the missing buttons under D3D9 ... It works just fine on my machine, can't even reproduce the bug. In the screenshots I see quite low framerates, maybe hardware problem?
All buttons are programmed using the HDC functions, maybe one of the graphics pros can help?

I'm working on that matter, but I think for the meantime I have no choice but to revoke the D3D9 compatibility.

PS. update with correct temperature, a garage, a bunch of bugfixes and a few new features coming soon.

Nice update, very smooth flight, but a little jerky when using Launch.mfd,I really like the new hangar for it,in updates any plans for a retractable radiator, and also a sliding,or opening hatch?,that would be great too,it's really shaping up to be a nice ship, also any possibility of an option to carry a few UCGO crates? Thanks for your hard work.

This is your first add-on!?!?! Freakin' cool.
Awesome job! (I kept looking around for some Kilrathi or something)

More reminds me of the fighters from space above and beyond.

Looks good, looking forward to taking her for a spin

AWESOME!

Sweet addon dude! Very well done! Can't wait to see where you take this bad boy next!

ONE quirk though,

Fuel capacity/consumption seems a little iffy. I'm burning more than half the go go juice just getting into orbit.

Am I doing something wrong here? Is this something we can modify?

Again, awesome job dude! Really enjoying the ship!

Cheers!

Missing dds

I tried F-224 v1.01 but I'm missing texture: Firehawk\screen.dds and texture: BW_PILOT.dds. I couldn't find them in a forum search or orbiter directory search.

Suggestions?

Thanks

I forgot to install UMMU before I posted. Problem solved. Sorry.

Hull temperatures at reentrys at suborbital flights is to high! I started vertical with 85° angle of attack to space, full thrust, then MECO and was gliding to 110km altitude, then falling back in strong horizontal orientation (with auto pilot assistence) but hull temperature was running very fast and to high and i exploded. But this is unrealistic, because suborbital vessels like Spaceship2 can handle this relativ low reentry speed without big heat shields and our Firehawk should handle it mutch more with it advanced heat shield!!!
Please check this!

What speed were you going?

This is a fantastic vessel and considering it's your first addon, I am very impressed. I don't normally take non XR or DG vessels out for a spin, but I made an exception for your F-224.

Yes, and I remember and enjoyed that. :)

I flew at about 1200m/s, about Mach 3 vertical down and the ship exploded.

thanks for the testflight, Axel!
I checked it (never tried that kind of reentry before) in slow motion. When crashing into the atmosphere like this first (at ~13 G or ~130 kPa dynamic pressure) your wings rip off, resulting in the craft falling like a stone. Very shortly after this the craft explodes either due to excessive heat or/and dynamic pressure.
I tried a bit and found a "rescue procedure":
-at 60.000 m face down, AOA ~10°
-open hoverdoors, fire full hovers, deploy airbrake, trim full up, fire full retros
-when atmospheric influences start impacting (at ~30.000 m) close
hoverdoors and retract airbrake. Still fire full retros.
-Now !gently! pull up, continuously checking the
G-meter (dont' pull over 10 G!), until vertical speed is under control.
-Land and relax.
I admit it took me some trials and 8 out of 10 times I exploded. The timing is crucial, because when the hoverdoors are damaged they are blocked and leave a vulnerable opening in the hull.
If you wish I can make a patch that makes the bird even tougher or try to make an external configuration file to enable custom settings for some values.
Greetings!

@bluedragon
Thank you for your flight profil information. Your idea with stronger bird is not necessary, when the fragilest area can widstand 700°C! I think the problem is very simpel, the counter for temperature is wrong! When i exploded the temperature sensor shows 2500°C !!! And that only at Mach 3,5 in 18km altitude. That can't be. The Space shuttle had at Mach 25 less than 2000°C. And the SR-71 Blackbird can fly permanently Mach 3,5, the hottest area is then there 570°C for nose and wings at 26km altitude. So please check better your used temperature system code.

Yep, this definitely ranks up there with Dan Steph's DG and the XR series! Bloody brilliant for a first go at an add-on! Keep up the good work! LOVE this ship!

Beautifully done..Keep up the most excellent work..

Hello !

Wonderful bird, realy good work ! But i can't see the central display, no buttons nor screen appear when i hit "8"... Using D3D9R12. :hmm:

Good ship! Had fun, but sometimes the HUD shuts itself off. Here is some taboos I found: I also think there are way too many action keys, and some need to be imported to the virtual cockpit. The radar screen (and switches below) is too dim for me and I think its range are too short. Not really any indication of killrot on, nor any standard function. But all in all, I find the agility amazing! My feedback: 6.75/10

I noticed when I undock from the ISS, I start to rise at a unstamtiated rate..Anyway to eliviate this problem from occuring?
