In my point of view this is just an advertising gimmick. Because you don't have to be a geologist but just an Apollo fan to realize within seconds, with your naked eye and without any analyses, that the piece for sure is anything but a moon rock. Experts say so for many years already as well. So the museum people should have known. And I think they knew. They keep the piece as a curiosity from the beginning already...

It's not uncommon that musuems don't display the actual moon rock but display something else that looks like it... seems that these folks can't even fake it properly.
