I'm having some further problems getting my base up and running. I created a mesh in wings 3d and exported it to meshmaker to make it usable in Orbiter, but I get an error message from Meshmaker when I convert it. It spits out an output.msh file which I rename and put in my Orbiter mesh directory. But then Orbiter Base Maker won't recognize the file when I go to add it to the base. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I am including the debug.txt file that Meshmaker put out.
Thanks Paddy, I'll try that. Can you tell me how the UV map thing works in Wings 3D? I've been looking for a good explanation of how UV mapping works on the Net, but without much luck.
One thing which did not get explained too well ( or I missed it) Is that you can select a single face and UV map that by itself. Ideal if you have many parts of the UV map on a single given area of the texture bit map. i.e. draw one set of windows/console/metal plate and have 2 or 3 UV maps from different faces all covering the same area.
So what you (and the youtube tutorial) are saying is that I can take my mesh, apply a texture to it and export it as a single .msh entity that will be recognized by Orbiter and Orbiter Base Maker? That would be great if I could learn how to do it.

YAY!! It's working now. I just have to tweak the texture colors.
