3D VCs are cool but hard to read.
I disagree there - especially for something like Gemini, where you are much closer to the instrument panel and where you have only few small indicators.
You could maybe not read the check list tape on the center console, but especially the radar indicator would be easy to read (You don't need to tell the EXACT distance - what really matters is making sure the range rate pointer is always counter clockwise of the range pointer)
What I like of 3D VCs is, that if they are properly designed (like a real spacecraft), you can get a very good overview and the elements are really ergonomically placed, so you don't need to seek long to find a switch again.
In NASSP for example, even when I know what I am seeking, I need hours to switch to the right panel and scroll until I can manipulate the switch.
In a VC, it would be a single movement with mouse and mouse wheel, if needed.
I am a VC guy, I admit it.
Its like in DCS:Warthog, I would need to zoom in to read the labels there, but once you know how the C&W lights are sorted, you can already know by the position of the blinking light to tell what went wrong.
