Hey, everyone. Was fooling around and wondered if making [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2775"]this[/ame] was possible for the DGIV, XR2, etc. I think it would be great for ORL or something like that, to enhance manueverability. Also would be helpful for anyone who wants to make a tail-sitting VTOL craft.

Just an Idea. :idea:

Hai. Until someone else makes something more specific, this might be useful:
[ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3661"]Thrust Control MFD[/ame]

It allows you to gimble main/hover thrusters.

Does that addon (Thrust Control MFD) automatically gimbal the thrusters in response to control inputs, or just give you a little slider like in the default XR2/DGIV?

EDIT: Just tried it. It does rotate the thrust vector, but rotates it a whole 90 degrees up and down. Activate it while flying and the slightest bit of up elevator sends the DG through the air, spinning end-over-end.

Actually with the XR's API I think this would be possible to implement, but probably not for the DGIV. I'll have to look into how much control I have over the main engines and how much work it would be to intercept the attitude control commands and gimbal the engines based on it.

Hello. The gimbling in Thrust Control MFD is based upon the user input. The problem is, if you are not using a joystick, you can only input 1.0 or 0.1 (while holding down control). When you hold down the 2 key on the numpad, 1.0 input is sent to Orbiter. The MFD reads this as a 100% deflection of the main engines. I need to fix a bug in this MFD anyway, so I'll update it to have a user configurable deflection limit.

Ps. MFD is incompatible with the 2010 version of Deltaglider. The Deltaglider seems to have some update that conflicts with yaw gimbaling.
