I think that's the point the Archbishop is trying to make here. Whether you believe in so-called global warming or not, there's no question the climate is changing. Whether we're responsible, or whether we can do anything about it, that's up to us to work out.

The "Christian Dark Ages" are a myth. During the Middle Ages there was a good lot of progress, and since the Church had a monopoly on teaching they could have destroyed ALL kind of science with no problem at all. Instead we had the telescope, massive development of water power technology, and advances in agriculture. China with no Church didn't fare better than medioeval Europe. Neither did anyone else. "Dark Ages" is a term coined by Enlightenment types who thought themselves so much better, and declared that comets did not exist among other pearls of wisdom.
