Now that shuttle fleet 4.7 as been released and since AutoFCS is not compatible with Orbiter 2010 P1, I've decided to bite the bullet and try to learn how to a manual entry and landing with the Space Shuttle. Can anyone recommend a good starting point for me as far as tutorials or movies go? I am very familiar wth the shuttle fleet and the GPC MFD but I've never flown a manual entry and I don't even know how to determine the timing of my retro burn. Any hints or tips in that regard would be appreciated.

Of all the things I ever did in Orbiter, I never completed a successful Shuttle re-entry. However, I did in a Delta Glider, by pure luck it seems. And I survived to, as the heat never got high enough to destroy it. And I landed in the Atlantic, not in Florida.

Yeah, that's pretty much my experience with re-entering in a DG! I don't do too badly with capsule type spacecraft in that I rarely burn up. My problem there is targeting - I'm never quite sure where I'll end up! I've landed Apollo CMs in the Soviet Union a number of times which I'm sure wouldn't have gone over too well in those days!

Nice picture of City Hall by the way!
