In honor of banned book week, google put up a new map showing recent challenges to our free speech rights and the ability of students to access all ideas. Check out what books have been banned near you and read them!

I just got a project on a Banned Book today, but my teacher never mentioned anything about "Banned Book Week." Odd.

My mother was a elementary public school librarian the last decade before she retired. She actually had to bring the ACLU in when a group of parents decided that books about Halloween needed to be banned.

I think Frantz Fannon got it right when he said that abstractions can be far more frightening than the real world.
