Hi all,

I just downloaded the game, haven't started it yet.
I'm a veteran KSP player (Kerbal Space Program) and in that game i play pure stock. With this game i have read, that "everything" is a mod, even sound!?!

So i'm asking all you pro-orbiter-gamer's for help :) What mod's do i need?
I'm thinking maybe a list of: The essentials
The need-to-have
The nice-to-have
or something in that line, you get the idea

ohh and thank's in advance

Welcome in the Big Playground ;)

Hi superm18!
welcome to orbiter, its a nice place! i played KSP a bit, its cool and the Kerbals are fun but i couldn't build anything that didn't violently shake itself apart on the way up so i sulked back to orbiter ;-)

as for Orbiter mods, well...
check out 'http://orbiter.dansteph.com/' it has orbitersound as well as the DeltaGliderIV and UCGO packages which adds some immersive vessels, crew, cargo carrying and resource use. Adds a genuine sense of urgency to those ISS resupply missions! Its a good bundle and adds alot of depth. i pretty much consider it part of my default install by now.

also.. 'http://www.orbithangar.com/searchauth.php?search=kulch' Kulch has some awesome addons: Universal cargo deck allows you to attach any objects together (i.e.cargo in vessels) and the ... er.. Universal Robot Arm Thingamabob (URMS) allows for building stations and vessels in game. But both can be a bit buggy in orbiter2010.

the only other thing i can think of just now is Interplanetary Modular Spacecraft (IMS) 'http://www.orbiter-forum.com/showthread.php?t=28837'. This provides you with modules you can link together to make one huge spacecraft. its pretty cool check out the link and read the features. Its a huge mod, definately worth a look when you're ready to get seriously involved!

But theres literally great big HEAPS of cool mods for orbiter i could be here all night, the only other thing is get some good instruments to help you navigate the confusing vastness of space: I mostly rely on Interplanetary MFD, RC Orientation MFD, launch MFD

happy flying

Velkommen hjemme (welcome home) superm18!
As already said, there's literally a whole lot of wonderful/useful/vital addons.

For me OrbiterSound is at the top of the list, then the rest of Dansteph's addons, then XR fleet, some FOI creations, some MFDs, some planetary textures...That's everything for a good start, but I'm not an advanced Orbiteer.

But before getting "download fever", try it out in its vanilla flavour. It's working perfectly with no addons at all.
...Well, maybe OrbiterSound can be added straight away (BTW, it's Martin Schweiger's preferred addon).

Hej og velkommen til... :-)
Will continue in english as per forum etiquette.
The addons as listed above are all essentials...and I can not add any significant to that. What it also boils down to is what you want to do. Orbiter actually covers a lot of bases...You can transport stuff from bases on any surface to an orbit (or surface) anywhere in the solar system. You can build bases in orbit or surface...you can replay historical missions like apollo on one end or quite recent missions like Lunar Recce Orbiter (LRO). All this just to mention a few.
One thing though. You have to be prepared for a steep learning curve. You will learn a little of orbital mechanics...astrodynamics...and physics in general along the way. So patience is of the essence here...at least to my knowledge.
If you are interested in help or anything to get on feel free to PM me (and we can do it in danish there...lol)
Best regards
Michael
