I'm on Windows 7 64 bit. I have always recorded AVI files with a roller coaster sim called No Limits. One day, Movie Maker/media player randomly decides to not play them any more. I didn't change any settings. I've installed TONS of codecs, with no change whatsoever. Does anyone have any idea how to make it read the AVI files again? One thing that I may be able to help is under the settings for the simulator, it says it's recording under 30FPS(NTSC). Could that mean anything?

Thanks!

From my days repairing televisions, we had a running gag that NTSC meant "never the same color". It's the format that the U.S. adopted as a color encoding system for broadcast TV in color. Most of Europe uses PAL.
As a guess (and only a guess) you may be recording for television and not mpeg or .avi...
Perhaps check output settings? Like I said, only a guess.

Chances are they are encoded in some obscure codec proprietary to that game. Reinstalling it might fix any issues that cropped up and enable you to watch them again.

If that doesn't help get gspot and analyze the avi files (one should suffice). It will tell you which codecs are needed to play the files.

Regarding the settings in the game, it is most likely only a reference to the framerate at which it records and has nothing to do with colorspace at all. In any case, that would not impact your ability to play files as things like colorspace etc. are handled by the codec.

Usualy there should be some kind of error message hinting at a specific problem though.
