Dear Orbiter Technicians,

Please help. I am a complete beginner to Orbiter and I don’t want to seem slow or stupid; so let me first say that I have looked under the “Q & A” section(s) and done several searches already. I have read the manual and I have also read the “How to ask for help ! Read me!” post by Xyon.

My problem is this :

I have downloaded & extracted several Orbiter Add-Ons. These Add-Ons have been extracted into their own sub-folders in the main Orbiter directory.

They are :
csphere100830,
OrbiterSimLandSAT061219_Earth_L10,
Moon090730_L11,
Mars091218_11,
Mercury_L8,
and also the ESA Kourou Launch site package : PackCSG_ELA_140211

When I start the Orbiter Launchpad, I cannot see or find any of these download extras anywhere within any of the Launchpad Tabs. . . . .

How do I configure Orbiter to find & incorporate these Add-Ons ?
Thanks in advance for your help ! :)

Best regards,
Paul C.

Addons must not be extracted in their own folder, just extract the content in Orbiter's folder. It will add them to Orbiter in most cases, some of them must be activated in the "Modules" part of the launchpad.
Very often, there is a readme or a pdf doc that explain the installation procedure for those addons which are not easy to install.

If I understand you correctly, you have the files for the add-ons INSIDE of their sub-folders.

You're close. Simply take the contents of the subfolders OUT of the subfolders themselves, and drop them in the main Orbiter directory. I noticed mostly you have downloaded textures. You wont notice them immediately (Though the Land Sat ones are incredible) but they will be active. Make sure to follow the directions included in the readme for textures elsewise, they won't show up properly or at all.

As for Kourou, you can just drop that into the main directory and it will immediately work, make sure in the readme that you don't have to add any lines to any .cfgs, as the textures may come out incorrect.

That should do it. Welcome to the club, by the way. :welcome:

Thanks guys, that's a big help. :tiphat:

And yes, Napalm42, you are correct,
I "have the files for the add-ons INSIDE of their sub-folders".
I will proceed to move these files into the main Orbiter folder.

But - especially in the case of the Kourou Add-On, it comes with a large number of its own sub-sub-folders. About 10 of them.

Do I just need to move all the Kourou sub-folders into the main Orbiter Folder, or do I need to move ALL the files (individually) out of their sub-folders and into the main folder ?

The LandSat Add-on has only a (v brief) Readme file, but the Kourou Add-on,
"PackCSG_ELA_140211" has about 10 sub-folders and at least as many Readme files, all of which are pdf and seem to contain mostly pictures!! with little in the way of Installation instructions.

Any further advice welcome.
Thanks again. :hail:

Move all the Kourou sub-folders into the main Orbiter Folder!
you'll notice that folder names are similar inside orbiter and add-on - that way files will be in correct folders for them eg.: textures in textures folder, scenarios in scenario folder and etc.
