Project Hermes - Solar Exploration Vessel

Hey all, this is my little project... Hermes. A vessel built to explore the Sun, or close to it. It is a spacecraft3 vessel and has all docking ports and animation working perfectly. My question is this, if i wanted to add navigation lights, beacons etc... do i have to make a custom dll, or can this be done using spacecraft3.

I did see a wicked mesh viewer available at the Orbit Hangar a few days ago that talked about locating attachpoints, docking points, etc, from within the viewer - I have no idea if that means you can add lights and effects after exporting the mesh and opening it up in the viewer, but you might want to have a look and see.

I did see a wicked mesh viewer available at the Orbit Hangar a few days ago that talked about locating attachpoints, docking points, etc, from within the viewer - I have no idea if that means you can add lights and effects after exporting the mesh and opening it up in the viewer, but you might want to have a look and see.

It can't add light sources or other 'effects.' In fact, up until very recently Orbiter didn't support light sources at all, and even now very few ships have it implemented (Default Deltaglider and Atlantis, XR-2, Soyuz FG/U, Proton, ISS v3.2, SSU WIP which isn't available, AMSO and Delta-II Missions v2 that I know of.)

This is a low-resolution model, my starting point, and i'm now making a high-res version with a stupid amount of detail.

Well, usually you do the high-poly model to bake it into textures, which you then apply to the low-poly model ;)
 
Here's another little visual update for you... it's a little too hi-res. I'm going to have to go back upon completion and reduce the polygon count.
