Hi All. I came across this Orbiter open source community and it sure looks impressive. I am downloading the 2010 version as I type this. I have never had a space simulator and am looking forward to explore this program. I have used and flown the Falcon 4.0 with all the community add-ons developed for that series for several years. I have always been a fan of the early manned spaceflight , Mercury through the Apollo flights. Visually these look very detailed and a lot of fun to fly. My computer hardware is very minimal at the moment, but I do have a Saitek X-45 Hotas hoping it could be used. I do apologize I do not have the knowledge to contribute with developing products, But I must say hats off to all that have. Just as in the Falcon 4.0 community, I am impressed with the talent and dedication of everyone involved to develop software with such detail.:tiphat:

Hi! Welcome to the forums, and I hope you have fun. Orbiter is always a great experience.

Just a small note though, Orbiter itself is not open-source, mostly due to Martins desire to avoid it being merchandised by sleazy characters on the web who dupe some people into paying for it (the whole thing is complicated )

Many developers, including yours truly, do try to keep things open source though

Welcome to the forum!

As far as flight sticks go, I found that I only use mine when returning a vechicle in atmo. I tend to either use autopilots for re-entry, or a keyboard, then switch to the stick to do an over-field break, or just touch up the heading depending on how the approach direction was.
