Gaming Hielor's Minecraft Server

"Premium" is probably defined as "Paid-for edition of Minecraft". In which case, yes, I'd imagine it's a Premium server.

There aren't many which aren't, but Minecraft isn't particularly expensive.

Is this server a premium server? My friend 'atomizer' can't join it, because he get 'User not premium'. And he would request new nick- 'kamil1997b'(without ').

He hasn't premium
If by "premium" you mean "non-pirated version" then yes, this is a "premium" server.

The server seems faster now.

So, Minecraft 1.9 is theoretically coming soon, and I wanted to ask what people think we should do with the server when it lands. I see a few choices:

- Do nothing. New chunks outside where people have already been will get the new biome generations, but that's a long ways off since people have done so much exploring.
- Start over. Not really my favorite choice, for obvious reasons.
- "Sail" to the new world by building a boat (or something) and giving everyone on the server a chest in the boat. Everything in your chest gets copied to the new world, so we're not starting from scratch.

What do people think? Keep in mind that Notch has stated that Minecraft will be coming out of Beta in November, so there will probably be a big update then, and probably a few other big updates between now and then.

I'm thinking maybe do nothing now, with the "sail to the new world" option when it comes out of beta. You guys have all made a lot fancier stuff on the server than I have--what do you think?

Leave it I think. There isn't much in 1.9 that I would see needing a new map or area.

I don't really want to do things again. It feels like I have something todo now.

That's what I was thinking. Another possibility would be to move to a new area in the same world--we'd get the benefit of the new biomes, but still have our old stuff a short nether trip away...

+1. This way not everyone would be forced to relocate. Can the new server hardware handle a world that large?

I agree, it seems to be running much smoother for me as well.

I'll +1 that too. I'm just now getting my 'castle,' as it were, close to where I can begin building it up to what I had in mind. I know it doesn't look like much now, but for me, it's so far the most elaborate thing I've done in the 2 months I've been playing MC. I'd hate to throw away all I've done so far.

Any plans for a map of the world available online?
There's this for now:

I don't know how large of a world it can handle. Is there any info available about what kind of power is needed for a world of a given size?

Any plans for a map of the world available online?
Thought about it, and made a map with Minetographer last night, but not sure I want to post it--couldn't people use it to find things that you should have to discover normally, like diamonds or the stronghold?

Hielor, could you add me to the server list? M/C name is "hardena" without quotes (obviously).

EDIT: And if you'd also be so kind, I see to have trapped myself in some sort of sheep pen while I was looking around. Could you delete my current save or some such thing so I respawn in an area I can extract myself from? :P

I'd just as soon keep things. To my knowledge we haven't traveled much more than 2 km from spawn in the overworld (if that), so only a few hundred meters of Nether travel should be necessary to reach new biomes.

Say, is there any chance you could set up a mail/PM system on the server? Chat has the disadvantage that the person has to be logged in and not AFK to see your message. Another option is posting signs, but they use up a fair bit of wood for a rather short message, and you have to know where the person is going to be in the near future.

You could just post a screenshot of the top layer or something...

I would just like to echo the sentiment about doing nothing when 1.9 comes out. Nothing is far away with the nether, so getting to new areas isn't a big deal. I do kinda like the "sail away after beta" idea though.

I've added you. As for being stuck, if you mean the glass-covered pit, just open the gate and let yourself out :P

I'll look into a mail addon, it looks like Essentials may do what we need and some other helpful things.

As for the map--that would be a rather huge screenshot :). Another problem is that minetographer doesn't support stone brick yet, which is what most of our buildings are made out of, so I think I'll wait until that gets updated for 1.8...

I think there are mapping programs that do about 1 block per pixel. It might still be fairly large but shouldn't be unmanageable yet. (Plus, it need not be one screenshot covering the whole area, just a set of 512x512's (or thereabouts) should be good).

Right. The gate. Of course. I was, uh, just trying to see if there was a more efficient route out. Yeah. That's it... :embarrassed:

I had these same thoughts today when I logged in alone..

Also, my minecart went missing and with the intersection switched. Not a major inconvenience, but I don't know what to make of it.

You are not the first to report disappearing minecarts. I think they may be despawning, or something. Minecart thievery wouldn't really make much sense.

Tectonicus (the program minetographer is a GUI for) has been updated to 1.8 for days now. Replacing the .jar into the minetographer directory the manually should work. And if not, you can run from the command line just as easily.
