Question Hitting LA in April, looking for places to visit

oh wow...it looks right out to the sea : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:HearstCastle-Darter-4.jpg

imagine waking up to that! Hmm about 250 miles. Have to get used to driving with the GPS, hope its spot on with the turns and stuff.

Thanks Cras, I will check it out for sure....might take a bicycle up there instead of the car :)

Any chance of visiting snow covered peaks nearby :)....I heard that it gets as low as 3 deg sometimes. Also there is a National Forest nearby....its open to the public for treks ?

I am not out in LA yet. I am actually leaving Chicago for LA in about a week, so I cant say what is going on now, but by this time of year, and how it looked a few months ago, the big mountins that tend to have snow, like Big Bear (which is not actually in LA, it is in Coachella Valley, which is Palm Springs, Indian Wells, that area), there is no snow up there.

Yeah. It's been kinda dry this winter, which means an early and long fire season. If you want snow, come to the Lake Tahoe Basin. Plenty of snow there.

Just been here 2 weeks and luvin it !! Drove to Hollywood and Getty Museum on the hill. Its so easy here :P with the GPS thing. Next up the California Air and Space museum !

Apparently the Jet Propulsion lab is having a open house on June 9th & 10th. Cant wait :)
