Flight Question How can i get the trim control on my joystick?

Hi,

I have been using orbiter on and off for years now

How can i get the trim control onto my joystick

I have tried keyboard to joystick mappers, but for some reason INSERT/DELETE dont map well, and instead control the hover thrusters? This was with joytokey.exe

I would really like to have my joystick hat as the elevator/rudder trim

So another way to solve this would be to change the keys assigned to different tasks, can this be done? then i could change the trim keys to ones that can be mapped to the joystick

Any help would be appreciated

You can remap controls in the keymap.cfg in the orbiter root directory.

IncElevatorTrim = DELETE
DecElevatorTrim = INSERT

Alternately, if you want to assign trim to an actual keyboard axis, you can use FlyByWire. It's on OH.

Would this be the only way to reprogram the hat on my joystick.

This would be the best thing to use for trim.
