Hi, I'm very new to Orbiter so I'm sorry if these are incredibly ludicrous and obvious questions. I tried searching ProjectApollo installation but I didn't get any good results.

So, I've tried installing a few add ons to enhance my experience. So far the only one I've gotten to work is Orbiter Sound 3.5, but only because it was pretty much automatic.

I've downloaded ZIP files without hitch - textures, projectapollo - but when I try to extract them, I have no idea where to put them! I tried putting project apollo under scenarios, flight, modules, whatever. No cigar.

So could anyone instruct my helpless, confused self?

:welcome: to the forum! Just extract each zip file to your root Orbiter directory; e.g., C:\Orbiter.

Welcome! :) As dbeachy1 says, most addons are installed simply by unzipping in the Orbiter directory, but there are some notable exceptions, such as OrbiterSound and most if not all of Kulch's addons. Normally there is also a readme file with more or less detailed instructions.

Typically, addon packages contain folders named Config, Meshes, Scenarios, etc. These should line up with the folders already present in your Orbiter installation with the same names (IE the folders should be merged and directories maintained.) Usually you can do this by simply unzipping the archive into your main orbiter directory (the one that has orbiter.exe in it) but sometimes the Zip contains a folder which needs to be opened first before extracting. If you're in doubt, extract it to an empty folder on your desktop and copy/paste the folders into your orbiter directory.
