Everytime I watch one of these 'end of the world' scenario movies I have to ask just where they are getting the supplies from.

For example, In Terminator Salvation they've got A-10's, helicopters, bullets, grenades, etc but it's obvious that the infrastructure has been destroyed. So, without the ability to build new A-10's, new helicopters, more bullets, etc just how long would the resistance have before they ran out of supplies to fight the war?

Realistically... maybe months. The A-10 is for example very sturdy, but without spareparts, you quickly run out of them.

But then, the resistance could set up underground factories, that would be harder to destroy.

Not just that but the amount they lose in the movie is incredible and where are they flying them from? what about the fuel?

But then, the resistance could set up underground factories, that would be harder to destroy.

But that takes time, it takes manpower. In the Terminator universe its commented that 'we are that close to going out forever' so there can't be many people left. all I can figure out is that the resistance takes over some of the skynet factories.

If Nazi Germany had been able to do that in the final months of the war, a human resistance can also do it.

A secondary question...When would society break down under less than average conditions? No alien invasion or catatstrophe.
Suppose human fertilty takes a permanent decline lasting generations, which fails first, Town or Country?

I can see people trying harder against aliens or machines, but if its just not worth getting out of bed...why bother?
