When is the DG V coming??

How do you power down the vangard X5?
Flight compter for vangard?

How to use transferMFD [want to transfer to moon]
How to use universal cars and cargo (DGIV launchers)

How do you unfold the solar panels on the MTKS satlite (payload for DGIV)

When is DGV coming?
-Probably never, as Dan Steph has said that there is basically nothing left to do with the DGIV, and his new pet project is supposedly the Arrow Freighter.

How do you power down the Vanguard XR5?
You can turn the APU off, but you cannot completely turn the ship off, and there is no "Safe Mode" like there is in the DGIV.

Transfer MFD?
-Sorry, I don't use it. But i use TransX and flytandem has AWESOME tutorials on how to use it. I would recommend them. ->

Solar Panels on MTKS Satellite?
In the description of one of the scenario files, it says how to work it (under DVIV->WHAT"S NEW). When the UMMU is grappled to the satellite, you must press [F12]....####....[F11]
Where #### are the numbers needed in the power up sequence (use numbers on top bar, not numpad). The complete list of codes is:

F12 2317 F11 // wake up maintenance computer
F12 3453 F11 // main power on
F12 5014 F11 // deploy solar panel
F12 3073 F11 // uncover telescope optic
F12 6525 F11 // Run main program, run autopilot

if you want to pack it up, press F12 9999 F11

Thank you. I also have a couple other questions:

Collisions in orbiter (I have heard of meshland and another one, but also heard they were not even close to being ready)

Also, the two most well developed vehicles that I know of are the DGIV and the Vangaurd X5, does anyone know of any other equally well developed vehicles or perhaps one that is just a little bit under the caliber that the DGIV and X5 are

Also, how do you use the DGIV launchers (universal cars and cargo). I brought up the F4 menu and looked all over and found nothing. I was thinking loading a DGIV launcher would be something like loading a DGIV cargo, but I was wrong, and was hoping someone could help.

Thank you.

I appreciate the help so far, but can someone please answer the following two questions:

# The two most well developed vehicles that I know of are the DGIV and the Vangaurd X5, does anyone know of any other equally well developed vehicles or perhaps one that is just a little bit under the caliber that the DGIV and X5 are

XR2 is a extremely realistic vehicle in my opinion, I guess you should have a go with it. ;-)

There are many both as and more complex than those two. Have you looked at the other XR vehicles (1, 2)? Take a look at the Addons page on the forum for a list of some of the cool ships. AMSO is definitely worth looking into. Not on that list is the recently finished [ame="http://orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=5126"]Vostok[/ame] addon, which may well be the most comprehensive addon for this simulator (although it has very heavy hardware requirements.)

:crystalball2:

My crystal ball tells me you mean these? Use the included scenarios, or if you have other ideas for them, copy/edit them to your liking.

AMSO is absolutely amazing. I've been using the orbit hanger site, but have never even found a single vehicle with an interior. and the XR 1 and 2 are less or equally advanced than the XR5, but they are still very cool and decided to give them another try since you mentioned it, and the XR2 is very fun. These vehicles that you are talking about that are more advanced than the DGIV and the XR5 (or equally advanced), can you give me names or links?

And yes your crystal ball was correct. I didn't know I needed to use scenarios and couldn't load them, thanks.

Also, anyone know if collision are possible in orbiter?

Oh, and is the only way to load a 'repaint' for the XR series is by scenerio (where as the DGIV can load repaints from the scenery editor)

Many of the questions you've asked have already been answered on this forum - please use the search feature.

Also, read the documentation that comes with Orbiter, and with the add-ons you download, before asking questions. Someone put a lot of effort into creating those manuals - and we don't like having to repeat the effort.

For instance, The Orbiter Manual (in the Docs folder in your Orbiter install) tells you how to use TransferMFD, and there's even an annotated flight recording (in the Tutorials folder in the scenario list), created by Martin himself, that shows exactly how to use TransferMFD to get to the moon.

Try to find the answers yourself, but when you can't, we will help with specific questions. One of the reasons we expect you to try to find the answers for yourself is because you will have a LOT of questions. If you wait for us to answer them all, it will take a very long time for you to learn how to use Orbiter.

If no-one else has mentioned it, there is a very good "starter" tutorial called "Go Play in Space". You will find a link for it in the tutorials section of this forum.

I haven't seen anything for collision, but there might well be...who knows?

But in addition to the XR and DG class vessels, I think that Kulch's TX (Tug eXperimental) is pretty sweet. Make sure you get the totalimmersion Virtual Cockpit at Orbit Hanger (If you are solely interested in Virtual cockpits, there is also a good one for the Shuttle PB and a few others). Also, here is kulch's website if you want to check it out

http://kulch.spb.ru/index.shtml

Now I'm going to go download Vostok. :)

Yeah! Pretty much all of kulch's stuff falls into the "gotta-have" category. The tankers download has the Albatross (Energia launched tanker with "flyback" capability).

UCD and URMS are pretty essential too.

I looked at his site in the downloads section (http://kulch.spb.ru/Eng/downloads.shtml) I didn't find a single ship. For everyone who is telling me there are vehicles that are equally well developed as the Vangaurd XR5, the XR2, and the DGIV, please LINK ME. Because those are the only 3 vehicles I use and all the other addon website vechiles I have seen have great exteriors but no cockpit like the DGIV, XR5, and XR2.

Also, I get random errors that close out orbiter with the XR2 at random times. I'm using windows vista

Also, my collisions in orbiter question remains

Lastly, looking for links to bases that are well developed (such as Jarvis and Overton Island) Places like orbiter city won't load because apparently I screwed up the editing of the config file so any further instruction regard that is weclomed

Have you tried this? [ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3666"]Wideawake International[/ame]

When you say "well developed" you are not being very descriptive. Wideawake International is about as "well developed" a facility as there is.

Also, "well developed" fits when applied to kultch's energy project, and his tug, and the tankers. You didn't specify virtual cockpit.

ssope,

Welcome to the community. All of the add-ons mentioned above are all great. All of Kultch's add-ons can be found in OH Mods.

Let me offer some advice as it appears you are a noob (new guy). All of these ships come with extensive documentation, and advanced autopilots. Please read the documentation in the Orbiter/doc folder and Orbiter/addon doc folder. These guys spend an extensive amount of time putting these add-ons together, and I can speak on Dan's behalf that a lot of effort went into making the documentation. I personally helped on all of the UCGO documentation and many of the scenarios on the DGIV. We want you to read the docs, and you learn more than just by posting your questions.

Of course the community is very glad you are here. I wish you lots of fun and success with Orbiter.

Peace,
