Hello, not sure if this counts as a mod but I have created a Soviet Redstone skin by editing textures from asbjos' Project Mercury X mod. I have plans on uploading it but due to me not having permission from said creator as of now I have to wait for his response. So tell me what you think about this skin!

I don't have a problem with it.
It's derivative work, so you become co-author, along with the original one(s).
Since the original add-on is required, there's no room for confusion.

Just a few comments about the textures:
- Both words on "Sovietski Soyuz" should have the same font size.
- "CCCP" and "Merkury" are stretched vertically. You should respect character proportions.
- The hammer and sickle doesn't work. Go for CCCP with the red flag below.
- Perhaps swap CCCP and Merkury markings.

Take this as positive critique. I'm happy to see people creating things for Orbiter!

Great work! I really appreciate the investment of time others put into our release!

I also fully encourage creative development for Orbiter. And since the included textures are by 4throck himself (from this addon), he's the one to respond, and he already has. :)

I do plan on adding a skinning feature in the scenario, though, where one can define replace textures by a string in the scenario.
But no matter if you wait for that or not, please do upload to Orbithangar! (or any other site you prefer, of course)

Alright I'll make a improved one, I did get permission from the creator so I'll upload it after posting here

now that I think about I'll upload the old skin here if anyone wants it. I highly advise you backup your textures so you can go back to the original ones.

I appear to be having a hard time editing this so I'm going to leave it the way it is, sorry 4throck. I will take your critiques into account for the future!

and of course... I'll try again later.

Nevermind got it working now, just waiting for the admins to approve it

One interesting variation would be a skin based on the Scud missiles:

For comparison, here's the military Redstone:

And a Scud:

They are quite similar :)
I'd say you could paint some parts white, but keep others "soviet green". Makings should be minimal, perhaps only CCCP.

Now, where would the Soviets launch this from ?

Hmm ok I'll look into that. I can probably have it launch from some random part in Russia
