Internet IE users reportedly get angry about being ranked the stupidest of all browser users i

This "study" is questionable at best. They don't seem to have said much about their methodology and online IQ tests are not adequate to properly measure IQ.

In any case, on Windows 7, there is no browser than runs better than IE9.

Back on topic now (I think we strayed from it a bit) why are people really getting that angry over a statistic? I mean really, it could simply be coincidence, after all one group has to have more of a lower IQ, there's almost no way it could be even all around.

They're not an adequate way to measure proper IQ, but for a simple study like it will suffice. It's a metric to rate aptitude. Assuming they used the same IQ test for each candidate regardless of browser choice and that a more intelligent individual will score higher than a lesser one, then it's a valid metric to use.

Because IE9 works fantastically on Win7, far better than the other browsers. Hardware accelerated rendering? Yes please. Stability and not constantly crashing like Firefox? I'll take that, too.

Oh, and let's not forget that Firefox has decided to crank out a new version every three months for the next two years or something...you know that they're high quality releases when they spend all of three months on them.

- IE user who *doesn't* have a low IQ

The world doesn't end with Firefox either, you should try Chrome.

From: IE -> Firefox -> Chrome user.

I used IE for a long time, and it works great. No browser can make a 300 kbps connection faster :(. I use WMP, so I'm also stupid. And looking at the comments about some crash test videos on Youtube I see that I am stupid and should die because I drive a Smart... Wow, I must have a negative IQ! It's true, "Holy War: When preferences collide"

IE has no purpose other than allowing you to download a different browser.

That used to be the only thing I used IE for. The last time I thought that I could SSH to my linux box and use wget/lynx to download firefox and then scp it across the network so that I could totally eliminate IE from the process. Then I remembered that Windows doesn't come with an SSH client installed so I'd have had to use IE to get putty...

Or your spelling...:)

N.

I use IE but honestly I couldn't care less what browser I use as long as it gets the job done fairly smoothly.

Since the troll^H^H^H^H^Hpoll did not mention Lynx, I consider myself safe...

i think the lower IQ results from IE users is not because IE is the "stupid choice" - but because it is the default for windows, and every time someone remains ignorant to there being other options - he gets IE (and a fluffy kitty dies)

if you're smart and still chose for IE - you'll still be grouped along with people dim enough to not know there are other browsers -- so that's gotta pull the averages down....

i use Chrome... dunno what my IQ would be - got tested whan i was a teen... "above average", i was told, but never got any actual figures

i'm definitely smarter now than i was back then (i hope)

Well maybe they think on IQ Browser, not on human IQ...

Besides internet IQ tests aren't exactley a reliable way of detemining general intelligence.

it's probably as reliable as using your body weight to determine your fitness level
