News Invisible Airbus

With the prices people are currently paying for flights? forgett it. It won't pay off. They might as well reformulate "no class division" to "first class only".

Plus, an unHEARable plane would fit the current european market a lot more than an invisible one...

Yes that is true, I most certainly would not pay to fly on this. I don't like the idea of being able to see everything that is going on outside during a flight, anyway. I would agree that your unHEARable idea is a much better idea than an invisible plane

I'm kind of afraid of heights above 100 feet so I don't think I could fly on this at all.

like any airline would give so much freedom, think of the economic cost! seats would go for £1000 per flight, if you wanted to take this leviathan UK -> NY, you'd be looking at a few thousand pounds for the ticket!

perhaps teh transparent roof thing is a good idea, id like it, but so many people are afraid of flying... maybe in 100 years ;)

I would like to fly it... I have never flown in a plane, but I would feel worse about being confined in a small metal tubes with many smelling humanoids, than being able to look down.

I would like it too. But then again, I'm an arial photographer and get paid to lean out the window of a plane to take pictures

Cool! What planes do you lean out of lol?@Grover:I'm not afraid of flying I just hate heights.@Urwumpe:The cabins are climate controlled and are about 15 feet wide in a twin engine jet like the a320 which i've flown on many times,so there is no risk of smelly robots lol.

I would like to fly in it, just to try it. It seems like an interesting concept, but I'm not sure how well it will get off with the public. No one in my family (who has seen this news story) has the slightest interest in being in this. However, imagine flying near the artic at night when some aurora borealis decides to come along. Now THAT would be something to see.

And they call it a future plane? Show me Mach 10 scramjet and then I would be impressed. This is just like regular jetliner only made of fancy materials and packed full with al sorts of gadgetry.

What happens if theres a chip or a crack?

One down side to this design is it may make it a little harder to join the Mile High Club.

Of course, there are those who are exhibitionists....

This reminds me of one of those glass bottomed boats. I would imagine that sailing on one of those is quite an experience, as would this plane be. Count me in as one who would fly on this, if it was only a little more expensive than a regular flight. Anything drastically more expensive and I would pass.

It would be an interesting plane to fly in, but would the additional cost and the lost revenue (due to less seats per square meter) be worth it. not to mention the extra mass of all those windows.

I read about this in the paper and enjoyed the concept of it. But I do think it's a flight of fancy. I don't want to be pesimistic here, but what about engine failure and your diveing to your death... Imagine seeing the ground rushing up to meet you.!

At least haveing an isle seat takes that view away.

Besides. I think the the concept of transparency on aircraft should be applied to airships. Which we should have more of and so would have time to take the views offered during flight. I saw several airship designs, cannot remember where, that I think this idea would be better suited for.

I think making a commercial airliner faster is more practical, plausible, and far less aggravating than sitting in it for longer periods of time with state-of-the-art technology.

Nice idea. What is it made of, transparent aluminium?
Long legspace, something to look at during the boring flights.
Why wouldn't anyone want to fly in it, besides the price and occasional acrophobia?

Imagine seeing the ground rushing up to meet you.
So? Better to see it than close your eye and sit in the dark and fear.

At night, I guess it's close to spaceflight, you must feel you're amongst the stars ;)
