So whats the trick to get on the orbiter IRC? I gave it a try with both the web client and the IRC client. It connects and then disconnects. Seems like I need to sign up for some special club to get in.. :P

JB

If you are being disconnected, you should receive an error message.

There's no trick. If you use a valid nick and ident to log in, and your IP mask is not banned, there should be no problems with connecting to IRC. You don't need to sign up anywhere, but you would need a password if you'd like to log in as an IRCOp. So what's the error you get?

Alternative addresses for Orbiter's IRC you may try to connect with (besides the default irc.orbithangar.com:6667):
  • irc.wockets.org:6667
  • 80.41.12.36:6667
O-F Staff note: Orbiter-Forum now has an official IRC channel;
irc.systemnet.info:6667 #orbiter-forum

Thanks for the replies. Im on the road right now and when I get to the comp I will post the error messages.

JB

You do not need to accept any incoming connections when connecting to WocketsNet. It is not mandatory.

This is the error messages I get from the web client.

"[16:40] Connecting...
[16:40] Logging in...
[16:40] -- *** Looking up your hostname
[16:40] -- *** Checking Ident
[16:40] -- *** Found your hostname
[16:40] -- *** No ident response
[16:40] Error : Closing Link: Buzz313th by irc.wockets.org (K-lined)
[16:40] Disconnected from irc.orbithangar.com "

Looks like you was banned from the server...

Thats pretty funny... I've never even been there before...

Thats exactly what I thought.... Thanks for confirming it Woo...

So just outa curiosity. If infact I was banned from the orbiter IRC, even before I have ever joined. What kinda requirements would ban someone? Do you guys sit around and discuss who is got the "Right Stuff" to join your bump buddy chatfest?

Honestly, it might make a good read for all the other forum members to know what not to do, so that if they ever decide to try and join the IRC, they aren't greeted with a banned IP.

You are K-Lined.
Meaning your IP or your IP range has been banned from the server.
If you can, get a new IP. If you can get a new IP. If you can not, then you have been banned for a reason. Or at least someone using the same IP has.

You sound like a polititcian TSPenguin. It would be as easy as unbanning my ip. So you know, my ip has never been banned from anywhere. And there is NO REASON that my IP would be banned. Ontop of that, I have only three computers who have ever used this router IP and my wife is on one and my 10 year old is on the other. So again, cut the BS and man up.

Don't sweat it, I can live without the #Orbiter IRC. And I will try to find someone else to answer the question I had.

Buzz313th, He's a moderator he's meant to sound professional :P and no one other than the IRC Operators can unban an IP

Too funny... I had to goto the URBAN DICTIONARY to find the meaning of "K-Lined". Probably cause you foos are too damn cool.

Not surprisingly it has nothing to do with an ip ban.

Here's the Definition....

k lined
This is short hand, and past tense, for "kill line". A kill line is a function on Internet Relay Chat (IRC) where and administrator 'kills', or disconnects, a user. The "line" is a temporary ban of the user logged in the IRC server deamon.
I just k lined that fool for dissrespecting.
k line k-line kill line k:line klined

So Penguin man and the Woo man... Looks like you foos WAS wrong! I got "KLined" before I could even disrespect you foos.

JB

"A k-line or kill line (also written K:line) is an Internet Relay Chat term, applied to a specific user. When a user is k-lined, it bans the user from a certain server, either for a certain amount of time or permanently." I think your definition is wrong..

Your IP has been banned from the Server

If you want to be unbanned you should contact the server admin or a channel operator.
These are not the people who run O-F and OH, and do not regularly visit the forum so you will have to ask nicely for contact details in a PM to TSPenguin or me

As this is quite simple to do this thread is now closed
