ISS in LEGO

Wow... that is advanced. :speakcool:

The only thing I didn't like was the solar panels were paper, not LEGO, even though the radiators were.

Other then that, I can notice certain parts which came off certain LEGO sets, which I know quite well.

I believe there was a LEGO ISS released way back when, which I still have in my cupboard, but it was nowhere as advanced as this.

I'm sorry if I sounded like a LEGO nerd, I get this way sometimes. :)

Hey don't feel sorry. We are all LEGO nerds, some people have just forgotten that they are :)

I got two of those Discovery LEGO ISS kits you mention, with the intention to build the finished ISS configuration. I never got around to doing that tough. And no, that kit was nowhere near the complexity and size of this MASSIVE construction.

I'm gonna have to admit:

I did make a mini-ISS out of LEGO:P
It was part of this kit:

But I adapted it to the current ISS configuration

I'll post some pics of it as soon as I get time:speakcool:

But I adapted it to the current ISS configuration
:speakcool: I've thought of doing that.

In that model, the shuttle is docked the wrong way, and I couldn't stand it, so I made a LEGO ODS and stuck it on the right way .

I once had a lego model of the Space Shuttle Discovery. Not a dozen or so parts like the one in the pics a few posts up, but it was something like 18" long with working retractable landing gear, opening payload bay doors, and RMS. Unfortunately it sat in my room in one place too long and got disentigrated by "natural forces" but someday I'll take the time to rebuild it.

Yeah I also have that model, also sitting in my cupboard.

Maybe now I should mention that I have a cupboard filled with LEGO.

Huh? What natural forces? Also, when rebuilding, make sure that you have the plans, I had a LEGO set that I lost the plans to and it was in pieces for years. Really problematic. I sat for practically a day on my living room floor building that Shuttle.
If the pieces to yours are mixed in with others, or, worse, some are missing, all I can say is best of luck.

P.S. That model also came with an HST. Neat!

I also have that lego Discovery. It was destroyed after a hard landing. I stopped building it again after a part of the heatshield got lost (wing leading edge, same position as the deadly hole in Columbia's wing). I thought of building an ODS and PMA.

Funnily ironic how LEGO models will break in a similar manner to their real-life or fictional counterparts.

Interesting. The only thing that prevents me from doing this stuff is that I'd have to take apart my other models, which I don't wanna do, since I've tried really hard to keep them in one piece or rebuild them.

EDIT:
You can find them in Related threads.

Cool. I could see some other LEGO pieces in there too. That made me think: "Darn why don't they make spacecraft like LEGO? That way we could dissasemble the shuttles and make lunar craft!"
