News James Cameron enroute to Mariana Trench

He's away! Currently over 4 km down. (Website and Twitter feed)

Nothing for me, I would get bored to death already in 2 km below the surface.

"Look there fish." .... "Oh another fish" - "That is the same fish as five minutes ago"

I like it when privileged people spend their money for scientific interests instead on a decadent life.

He will be an alien down there and see other aliens. I would not be frightened to go into space at all. But it would scare the crap out of me going down the Mariana Trench. The hydrostatic pressure down there seems more frightening to me than the vacuum of space.

He is currently on the bottom of the trench! Sent the first-ever tweet from 11 km down.

Resurfaced!

Anyone remember "The Abyss"? That is what this reminds me of.

I bet that's where some of the truly alien life forms live. Way down there where we can even barely survive down there. At least not without protection from imploding. I wouldn't be surprised if they found a form of 'Nessie' living in those deep deep waters.

The depths of the ocean are truly unexplored. This is just one of those places.
