Would anybody be interested in making a simulated mission of this cancelled NASA project?

I would create something like this myself but my experience is ZERO. I think it would make for a really interesting addon.
 
Give "Jupiter" a search on Orbithangar. I think I saw a version of this on there, but I think it was Spacecraft3

However, it's for a very old orbiter version and am not sure if it's compatible
 
Hi, I am the author of the old 2003 JIMO. Was curious myself if it still flies.
Downloaded it and took a quick spin around Jupiter, see below.

It still flies! Btw, it is a pure config-file vessel, no C++, no spacecraft.dll.
Given my modelling abilities at this time, the model is not too bad :-)

I would like to see JIMO revived with modern Orbiter vessel building capabilites,
maybe with an added Europa lander or an Io rover ...

Thanks a lot for this information, it's good to hear that it works! Do you by chance know of a prograde autopilot that would work with high time accelerations for the ion engine?

As another low-thrust pilot, I will tell you have a few options:

[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=3815"]IEATMFD[/ame] has a feature which will "cheat" and lock your attitude as well as some other features that are nice for low thrust vessels, but this can get a little unstable/buggy with some vessels.

[ame="http://www.orbithangar.com/searchid.php?ID=2899"]AbsoulteKillrot[/ame] I find to be a little more reliable, and does exactly what the title advertises. Unfortunately it does not dynamically track the velocity vector at high time acceleration, but you can approximate. I usually point ten degrees towards the sun and burn until I've precessed enough that I'm pointing ten degrees away from the sun. Then I slow down the simulation and reset.

That insertion maneuver at the beginning of the video remembers me Venture Star inserting into Pandora's orbit. :P
