:hello:I enjoy it a lot. A little about myself though, I'm 20 years old and have a strong interest in space and the astronomy about space. I don't think this will be a set career for me, but will take this interest in the same approach I would with any other hobby.

I just installed Orbiter two days ago as I found it browsing through my curious searching for simulators online. Anyways, after trying to manually land the shuttle onto earth, I started getting the hang of things (controls, handeling to orbit, navigations, ect). Yesterday afternoon I figured out how to launch and took off (albeit very pathetic and rather commical due to the rockets taking over and spiraling down to the ground). Last night on my 2nd attempt, I assending into space and reached a maximum Altitude of 2500 km. For my next mission, I plan to dock at the space station or a nearby planet. Any suggestions as to what I do first?

P.S shoutout to the designers of Orbiter and mods/admins of this site, pretty pumped I found this. :tiphat:

Welcome to the OF jb860!!
I know the felling you talk about finding this place, had the exact same one when i found it :)
For learning on how to use orbiter, best thing I can do is repeat Loru's post, Go check out Go Play in Space!!

:welcome: to Orbiter and to the forum.

Welcome, jb860. Have a look at the Delta Glider first. Much more forgiving (read: unrealistic) than the shuttle. Go Play in space is superb ... definitely agree with the other posts.

Welcome to the forum! The stock shuttle, while workable, isn't for the faint of heart. Get the DGIV (and the XR-series). Then work up to the completely amazing Shuttle Fleet.

Each craft has a way a raising the bar on your abilities. And the only way to "get it" is to practice-practice-practice.

Yep. Stock DG first, then DGIV, the XR's, then take your pick (shuttle, Russian ships, freighters, euros). Also - although it sounds weird - don't be afraid to learn on the moon (which Go Play in Space will show you). The Earth's atmo is a really hostile thing for returning to base. Muck easier to learn landing at Brighton Beach to start with, controlling descents and track without air and at much lower gravity.

Thank you all for the kind comments.

I took Atlantis out last night and launched it up with a Satellite and released the Satellite out (a little too soon!). Then landed it back sucessfully.

I will take a look at "Play in Space" later tonight when I have some free time. My goal is to launch a ship into the sun , but really my goal is to hit Mars at somepoint with one of the many vehicles. Hopefully overtime I will imrpove my skills.
