Doing my first trip to Mars and I was wondering what is a good Mars orbit alt.?

Well, MRO's final orbit was arounf 250-315 km, so I guess that would be a good place to start. I usually orbit at around 300 km, just because that is what I'm used to from LEO. It works out pretty well, but I'm not sure if it's considered 'proper'.
