Hi folks, its long time since i played Orbiter.
But when i bought my new computer, i couldnt play it. i discovered that it was because of my computers graphics card sucked and i only got 1 Gb RAM

but now i got a good graphcs card and one more Gig RAM from Christmas Eve (Man im not good at thoose american terms(Am im doing this right?)) im still downloading it so it would take time. its two years since i stepped into the virtual cocpit (i dont like including the k!) of delata glider IV, man i was god at handling it! anyway that was just the prolog (if you can cal it that..) now here is my question:

As i said its long time since i played it.
1. What must-have addons is cool to have?
2. Any addons featuring space walk? (including stepping out of the craft)
3. Are there more things to configure than last time?
4. Are there an online feature now?
5. Tell everything that is needed for having the joy an 12 year old very sophisticated dude could enjoy. not the manual as i know how to basically handle a space-craft and nothing about all the astro physics as i have reaed about it since i was 6 years old.

off topic (but atleast space releated): I am born with some kind of special sense that detects any problem dedicated to space travel. weird right?

You read about astro physics when you were 6?! Wow.. I think I was reading about Red and Blue ;)

Anyhoo, check the recommended addons thread on the forum, all the basic essentials are covered there.

As to online multiplayer stuff. We are in the process of organising and testing multiplayer atmospheric rocket racing atm using Face's MP coding. If that sounds of interest, join the Orbiter Rocket Racing League forum group, or check out the forum threads with the same name.

Welcome back to orbit(er).

Welcome to the forum!

1. What must-have addons is cool to have?
There are lot's of new addons, but a real nice/detailled one is the XR2 (or the whole XR fleet). You can find it here.
If you like the Shuttle, you might try the SSU project, but I have not experience with it yet, nor am I sure about it's availability.
There are also lot's of great addons from the French community available here. Very good addons, like a detailled Ariane 5, russian launchers, also including the local ground scenery. Maybe even the best ones are the CTV Pegase and the ATV addons.

Also make sure to check out the new Orbithangar site!

2. Any addons featuring space walk? (including stepping out of the craft)
Look for addons that support "UMMU", they enable you to make space/ground walks just like the DG IV. XR2 also supports spacewalks.

3. Are there more things to configure than last time?
Well depending on if you mean addons or Orbiter, but there are lot's of things to configure. The current orbiter version has quite some new parameters that you can change, depending on the realism you want. Reading the particular manuals for the addon or for Orbiter should reveal it all.. Also you might want to give one of the public orbiter beta versions a try.

4. Are there an online feature now?
see above post

5. Tell everything that is needed for having the joy an 12 year old very sophisticated dude could enjoy. not the manual as i know how to basically handle a space-craft and nothing about all the astro physics as i have reaed about it since i was 6 years old.
Well even when you understand the basics, there are still lots of things to discover using Orbiter. Try tools like IMFD to do transfers and visit other planets. Or make a tour to all the moons of Jupiter, etc. etc. Maybe even building your own addons is something you might like to do :)

Since you have the RAM now, you should defenitely check out SethEdens LandSat derived earth texture.
Probably the best planetary textures can be found on his page at: http://www.setheden.com/LandSat/Maps/MapsIndex.htm

edit: You should have stayed a little longer in the IRC channel. Eventualy we would have answered ;)
