Internet L5 Miniseries

This is great. I really enjoyed the first episode and I am looking forward to more, however I feel obliged to point out the entirely unexplained yet entirely visible wire @ around 20:00
It's the guide rope they hooked on when the elevator dropped. Adams lets it down later in the episode.

That is the rope attached the the carabiner.

Ah, I see. I knew they had that line, but I didn't realize it was attached to the suit. There are several visuals during the fall where it isn't visible. (and looking back I can see the line clearly attached to the guy's waist @ 19:50-ish)

Well, let's start speculating, then...

It's 200 years later. The original plan was to get people off of earth. So when the argo didn't return, maybe they went on and started the exodus anyways.

Getting the whole population off in 200 years... Nah, that sounds stretchier than the "Alien" hypothesis. Also, we know that Clarke picked up a message which he thought critical enough to delay arrival by 200 years. So no... the late arrival cannot be the cause, since the whatever happened seems to be the cause of the late arrival. It is also something that wasn't entirely unexpected, judging by the conversation between Clarke and Adams, but dramatic enough to withhold it from the crew.
So that's four major clues, all in all: No people, no bodies, not entirely unexpected, and something you don't want to end up in the middle of. Don't know, I can't make anything out of that yet. The suggested massive solar flare does not sound too implausible, except for no visible remains whatsoever.

There was mention of a gamma ray burst, severe enough to impede radio reception. However, up until the point of the GRB, the ship's comms systems should have been able to receive all radio traffic from earth & therefore have an idea of the political situation / current affairs of the day. So things like virus plague, threat of war, earthquake etc would have been transmitted via news channels across TV & radio frequencies. There was mention of garbled noise picked up on comms - could this be blueshifted transmissions from earth on the return leg, which would need decoding by calculating the doppler shift?

Biggest question though is: Where are all the humans??? :hmm:

Great first episode and I'm really looking forward to the others as when they come.

Thank you L5 Team :tiphat:

A gamma ray burst would have been detected by the ship, too. They would also probably notice the theretofore-not-present supernova remnant where Betelgeuse or whatever star used to be. :hmm:

Totally awestruck by this production! Simply fantastic work!

But I'm quite perplexed as to why the two major science fiction sites I frequent, SF Signal & io9, haven't said one word about it!
I even tried emailing the creators of those sites, and got no response (so far).

I really wish I could download this... :(

Do we know when episode 2 is planned for release? :)

I have no idea either...
If you think it's worth them mentioning, Keep sending it...maybe they will finally notice.
I know I will be.

If you can run OperaPortable from a USB-Stick or from a folder on your Desktop, you should be able to download the torrent directly. Opera has an torrent-client included.
That's what I did, 'cause I just don't like to have another Thing installed ;)
Unless you are not hindered by any Firewall, blocking those torrent-ports.

Just put BitTorrent on another PC, and after it installed it offered L5. So they like it.
