Is it possible to hold the shuttle at +40 pitch and roll left to right like the shuttle does? Im using v4.8 and am really having issues keeping the correct pitch. I tried using the ATTITUDE Mfd in Velocity mode and it works for a short while then starts to violently go inverted and i die.

I can reenter with the DG no trouble at all but the shuttle is very much harder. I really wish we had AutoFCS back as it was in Orbiter 2006.

Is there any other program for holding pitch?

Thanks
Andy

use Glideslope MFD. It has what it calls automatic steering. What it will do is hold the AoA at 40 degrees, and dampen the rolls. It makes keeping the rolls under control much easier.

I also had this problem but if you look in the Doc it shows you that you need to put the aerojet DAP in reentry configuration. The DAP is the plate that is directly below the main engines, and it needs to be raised in order to maintain proper aoa. Use the B key to do this; After that, you need to undo that with the b key so that you can fly strait again, I believe.

Hope this helps.

DAP actually stands for Digital Auto Pilot. It is the attitude control system for the Space Shuttle.

Oh:facepalm: Well I do know that you need to press the B key in order to properly configure the shuttle for reentry.

thanks guys/gals

Thats very helpfull. I just did a reentry with Glideslope and remebering to press the B key I got much much further than I did before. Bed now but tommorow I will try a full flight =)

Thanks again!

Set GlideslopeMFD to your target runway, perform the rolls to keep the two lines on target ,and you will find yourself coming out of the HAC in control and right in front of the runway.

Lower gear, flare, apply brakes.
