Here's a very interesting special about 7 ways the human race can go extinct:

Those "top scientists", World War III and the usual killer viruses once again. I love Grimms' Fairy Tales or how modern media scare works.

Sounds frightening that over 99% of the billions of species which had ever existed on Earth are now extinct. Seems that only a very few left including us. Hopefully less than 99% of TV viewers don't believe such nonsense. We don't even know all species which currently exist and we won't know all species that have ever existed. In the past, estimations varied from 3 to 100 millions. Today it's 10 to 20 millions while only 2 millions have been recorded actually. Also, the latest assumption concerning past mass extinctions is that they didn't happen quick. It probably took millions of years in some cases. But we'll never really know.

Anyway, the movie is rather entertaining. Just the right funny stuff to relax after work :)

When I die I wanna be buried in my alligator boots
With my diamond stick pin an' my Stetson hat
An' I want a twenty-dollar gold piece in my pocket
So the Devil'll know I died standin' pat

I want sixteen crapshooters to be my pallbearers
An' I wanna beer wagon to be my hearse
An' I wanna Texas blues band playin' "Who'd a-Thunk It?"
That these would be my last days on earth

Was that Cab Calloway? :speakcool:

Gully Foyle is my name,
And Terra is my nation,
Deep Space is my dwelling place,
The Stars my destination.

Ol' Cab sang this song, but so have many other folks, including my humble self back when I was playing blues. The artist most associated with the song for the last couple decades, however, is Bobby "Blue" Bland.

There was a very weird B&W "Popeye" cartoon from way back where he goes to the underworld (not Hell exactly, but some dark, strange place). Much of the episode there is spent watching a ghost dance around the place with Cab Caolloway's voice singing this song.

Anyway, for them as don't know, the song is "St. James Infirmary".

Yeah, some of those old cartoons seem as if their creators were experimenting with controlled substances.

I've always blamed it on the non-ethanol alcohols, Sterno, and various homemade poisons they were consuming back in Prohibition .

But anyway, the idea of Popeye making a trip to the underworld, by itself, isn't that weird. All the great mythic heroes in the literature of all cultures made such trips, so why not Popeye, too? He's pretty heroic and mythic, after all . However, this particular cartoon put a real twisted spin on the classic story form.
