Surface Base Lone Star 2060 - Earth Terrain & Aerospace Infrastructure

The package is very basic, so if you have any questions, just ask. But basically, the mesh uses default_bill.dds. The one included is AIA, just for example, but you can change it as you want.

Thanks :3

Brezoria County here I come! :3

Thankfully I looked up Pelican Island on wikipedia before I converted it into a STOVL base, there is a university and wildlife reserve there. Lol.

How about having some bridges along the rivers and canals? I remember doing a test with a generic <100 poly-bridge mesh along the river Thames, it really improved the world a lot.

If I can find some bridges ready made...

Otherwise, I have just 3 squares to go before completing phase 1 of the terrain texture. (Which is literally, 3 minutes to do)

Why don't you start an add-on request thread, in which first post you write down your wish-list which generic surface objects you would like to see, and which you already have, or which need improvements.

Yeah I would - but karma dictates before requesting for addons, I release terrain and basic infrastructure first. Oh, and tutorials! :3

Karma neutrality isn't necessary here, it has no effect on the failures of your XR2.

They say B52s will be still operational way into the 21st Century.

THis does look great! just flew it on OMP.

I question i do have:
I noticed you use World Studio for Surface textures. Whenever i use World Studio for surface tiles they either look too detailed and take up too much RAM, or they either look like crap. What settings did you use for getting the surface tile textures?

Thank you for adding West Houston - here are the two files fixed and ready to go.

Note I renamed the cfg to say VTOL, for my own compliance with the other bases.

Runway positioning is perfect, how did you do that? :D

---

Changes -

Katy and Northwest Houston tiles removed from Clark Sky Ranch. These areas now under control of West Houston STOVL field.

Installation -

The two base config files go into the folder : Orbiter/Config/Earth/Base

I used the base edit plugin to rotate the runway 10 degrees, loaded orbiter to see the effect, then rotated another 5, looked, rotated more, etc. I moved the runway and landing pad to where they should be using the pad as a measurement reference :P

Feel free to add this to the Houston release, though I recommend removing the 'VASI' entry as KIWS doesn't have it. Removing ILS crashes orbiter though =[

Does anyone actually use ILS to land in Orbiter? I never got it to work anyway the HUD and surface MFD makes it easy to land.

AirNav.com also doesn't give me the ILS frequencies to use on these bases.

I use it for final, I drop towards the beginning of the runway lights at 20°-30° and then pull up to get on the ILS glide slope. Usually this ensures a pretty smooth landing (Regardless which winged vessel I use).
