Before starting the Lunar Station Assembly (LSA) flights, I first took the 'launch XR5 to ISS' mission scenario and made a copy of it. I then removed the lunar station that already orbits the moon. I then flew the XR5 to the ISS, docked, refueled, then flew it to Brighton Beach and landed it on pad 3. All my missions will launch and land from pad 3 so I put the Brighton Beach transponder in NAV 3 and Pad 03's transponder in NAV 4. I then put 108.00 in NAV 1 and 108.10 in NAV 2. I then saved this scenario as "Starting Point" and shut down Orbiter and restarted it fresh, put the cargo for mission 1 into the XR5 and saved it as "Ready to launch mission 1" and shut down Orbiter again.
I then opened "Ready to launch mission 1" with Note pad and renamed all the Space Station modules manually. This has to be done on each mission so that a logical naming convention can be used to aid in finding the proper docking ports to attach additional modules to. It also allows me to control the names of the modules so that when I run into the "Orbiter Spaceship Naming Hash Bug" I can quickly come up with a new pattern of names for the modules that have issues.
Mission 1 was launched at a heading of 270 degrees out of Brighton Beach Pad 3 and arrived at the 100km circular Station orbit. Once there, the main control module was taken out of the cargo bay by the URMS and docked to the docking port of the XR5. After all the modules were docked, the URMS was moved to the station. Over the course of the first 20 missions the URMS was expanded until it was 10x its default size. I found that this made it a good size for module placement on the station and it has remainded that size ever since.
As the station was in lunar orbit and I was flying the missions as quickly as possible, I didn't notice a lot of rotation in the station even though it doesn't have any RCS until after 5 missions. I did use the RCS thrusters on the XR5 during the early missions to orientate the station for best lighting during assembly, but it quickly became to unballanced and/or too massive for the XR5 thrusters to budge. Since Mission 10 I haven't had to adjust the spin rate of the station at all. I think it's tidal locked....

And so after 50 XR5 missions, the Lunar Station reached Initial Occupancy Capability (IOC). This means that the first hab ring was complete and there is enough Hydroponics and Life Support to keep everyone happy as well as enough power, radiators, and RCS thrusters to keep the whole thing stable. Initially I thought that it would take another 100-150 missions to complete the first Construction, Repair, and Refueling bay (M01), but after seeing just how HUGE the fuel tanks are, and how many I can bring up in each flight (exactly 1) I've now estimated it will take between 265 and 275 flights to finish the M01 Construction, Repair, and Refueling bay. After that is completed, the next step will be to finish up the Hydroponics and Life Support Array and then build Centrifuge #2. Once that is completed, then there's Construction, Repair, and Refueling bay N01. When that is finally finished, then 'Phase 1' of the Lunar Station will be complete. Phases 2 and 3 are currently in the planning stages and will involve adding a total of 4 more Centrifuge rings and 4 more Construction, Repair, and Refueling bays (M02, M03, N02, and N03) Plus enough Hydroponics and Life Support to feed a small country.

I then opened "Ready to launch mission 1" with Note pad and renamed all the Space Station modules manually. This has to be done on each mission so that a logical naming convention can be used to aid in finding the proper docking ports to attach additional modules to. It also allows me to control the names of the modules so that when I run into the "Orbiter Spaceship Naming Hash Bug" I can quickly come up with a new pattern of names for the modules that have issues.
Mission 1 was launched at a heading of 270 degrees out of Brighton Beach Pad 3 and arrived at the 100km circular Station orbit. Once there, the main control module was taken out of the cargo bay by the URMS and docked to the docking port of the XR5. After all the modules were docked, the URMS was moved to the station. Over the course of the first 20 missions the URMS was expanded until it was 10x its default size. I found that this made it a good size for module placement on the station and it has remainded that size ever since.
As the station was in lunar orbit and I was flying the missions as quickly as possible, I didn't notice a lot of rotation in the station even though it doesn't have any RCS until after 5 missions. I did use the RCS thrusters on the XR5 during the early missions to orientate the station for best lighting during assembly, but it quickly became to unballanced and/or too massive for the XR5 thrusters to budge. Since Mission 10 I haven't had to adjust the spin rate of the station at all. I think it's tidal locked....

And so after 50 XR5 missions, the Lunar Station reached Initial Occupancy Capability (IOC). This means that the first hab ring was complete and there is enough Hydroponics and Life Support to keep everyone happy as well as enough power, radiators, and RCS thrusters to keep the whole thing stable. Initially I thought that it would take another 100-150 missions to complete the first Construction, Repair, and Refueling bay (M01), but after seeing just how HUGE the fuel tanks are, and how many I can bring up in each flight (exactly 1) I've now estimated it will take between 265 and 275 flights to finish the M01 Construction, Repair, and Refueling bay. After that is completed, the next step will be to finish up the Hydroponics and Life Support Array and then build Centrifuge #2. Once that is completed, then there's Construction, Repair, and Refueling bay N01. When that is finally finished, then 'Phase 1' of the Lunar Station will be complete. Phases 2 and 3 are currently in the planning stages and will involve adding a total of 4 more Centrifuge rings and 4 more Construction, Repair, and Refueling bays (M02, M03, N02, and N03) Plus enough Hydroponics and Life Support to feed a small country.
