Question Mars Simulator?

Hello,

I purchased a copy of Flight Simulator, it was cheap enough on Amazon UK. A preowned copy of the 2004 version.

With the this copy of Flight sim, I hope to learn how to flight the very early aircraft, that was the whole attraction to it.

Leaving that aside, while searching for Simulators, I came across one called Mars Simulator, it works for Windows xp. It was released in July 2013.

Who has used that simulator, and what is the agenda with it? I couldn't find reviews on it and the main site GSP company doesn't state any detail, and niether does they're customer service know. I'd have to send a technical support enquiry.

A link would have been helpful, I can't find any "Mars Simulator". There's the Mars Simulation Project, which I know for quite a while, but that was around since way before 2013, and is a colonisation simulator, not a flightsim. The only other thing I came uppon was a MIPS IDE...

I thought it may of been obvious, since there are hardly any simulators for Mars, and I mean these are only ground based simulators. If I wanted to go to Mars from the Earth using the existing past or well present missions Orbiter Simulator is fine for learning that.

"Hardly any" always implies more than one. From the top of my head, I remember alone 4 different simulation games that play on Mars.

Especially the "Mars Simulation Project" is a very popular agent simulation of a mars colonization.

There's no developer, no homepage, 3 different screenshots that repeat themselves, all of them in the same location, no mention on the first few google search pages... This thing is fishy as hell. Hands off!

There is Google Mars which works with Google Earth:

And the flight simulator inside Google Earth works there as well. Kinda fun to tool around Mars in an F-16.

Perhaps it's what it is, a bare bones setup of a rover roaming around Mars. It may not be a complex simulation.

Having just used Flight Simulator 2004, I tried the Wright flyer, interesting, but strange aircraft. It is quite a simple flying machine, pitch up and maintain a north heading.

How ever that appears to be the only one available for it. All the other historical aircraft, about twenty four. The rest are standard every day bland aircraft with plenty of engine throttle.

I noticed that the sites for Flight simulator are full of standard aircraft addons, one site a user must pay just to login. So there is no community forum available.

What a cheap knock off attempt? Or just simple title change. Hmm.

Well, nobody has used either of these. If anything, I'd like a Pathfinder mission addon for Orbiter, but that won't happen without some serious detail. The pathfinder landing map area was nice for Orbiter, but it isn't useable beyond as a landing pad.

Got the game in my local supermarket. It was 5 EUR so I thought that I can give it a go. Basically, it's a sample return mission. You are driving a rover around and picking up rocks and alien artifacts (don't ask).

A nice way to pass 90 minutes in the evening, but zero replayability value due to a fixed scenario.

If you want to play with driving Mars rovers, then KSP remains the most cost-effective option at the moment At least until someone does a Curiosity add-on for Orbiter 2015 (terrain!).
