Request Mars to Earth rocket

A Multistage apollo-style rocket with a command module, service module and a Landing Module, the Landing module needs to be able to land on Earth, then launch back into orbit, rendezvous with the service module, undock. The service module then needs to be able to return to Earth and a Command Module needs to unlock and land on Mars.

Basically an Apollo-style Rocket which can launch from Mars and make an Earth return journey

Erm, okay, wheres the launch gantry, fueling tanks, mission control...

It just seems like an odd thing to request, very hard to do too.

You're asking for something that's pretty much been done.

Well, any capsule can do that - if it's mounted onto another rocket hence Jarvis, Neptune, Themis, etc

Yes, but I think that the idea is to make the reversal of a Earth->Mars mission. I guess that some sort of air-breathing engines would be useful there (SCRAMjets ?). Landing on Earth is pretty easy (even if there was no airport, a dry lake would be OK). Escaping the gravity well is another problem, especially if you come from another planet !

The easy part is that lifting off from Mars is much easier than from Earth, so you can easily send heavy stuff even in one launch. I guess that a rocket using methane would be interesting...
