The last formation really shows the difference in size between the MiG-29 and the SU-27. I didn't realize the Flanker (or whatever it's called at home) was so large.
Ditto. I don't know if I've ever actually seen a picture of both planes side-by-side before.

Sometimes I really hate Google :P:

Wow, that's cool looking. Was there an airshow or something? What audience were they flying for?

There was a military parade on the Red Square, and that's what the pictures of the armed vehicles posted by Mark Petroff are from. The fly-by of the aricrafts was a part of it. The audience, I think, are the all occupants of Moscow who was lucky enough to be along the path (which crossed the entire Moscow, as the Red Square in the geometrical center of it). I think you might have a similar experience during your July 4th Independence Day, which the Russian V-Day resembles most in value and meaning.

I believe this is not because the Flanker is large, it's about size for your Eagle or Hornet, that's because the "Fulcrum" is little. :) It's supposed to be a short range high readiness front line fighter, able to operate from ground airstrips.

erm... I remember having models of the Honret and the SU-27 in the same scale, and the SU-27 was quite a bit bigger. It wasn't much short on the blackbeard, which had the same scale.

no, wait... that was a model of the SU-32. But as far as I know it's pretty much based on the SU-27 frame...?

The Su27 is 3m longer,1m wider and 1m higher than the F/A18. It's also about 3 tonnes heavier.
