Project Mir station complex / UR-500 family

Node 2 has the wrong type of mechanism on the longitudinal end cones, they're not APAS but rather the US developed Common Berthing Mechanism (CBM) that was originally part of Space Station Freedom: https://ntrs.nasa.gov/search?q=Common Berthing Mechanism

That why the Pressurized Mating Adapters (PMAs) exist, to join a CBM with an APAS. They're of different diameters (CBM much larger than APAS) and CBMs can't handle the impact loads of docking (berthing is different from docking) so they require the steady end effector of an RMS during the actual mating/demating process when the bolts are driven.
