I try to use the Orbiter Date Converter (inside the Util folder / 'date.exe')

Is it possible to set the MJD (scenario editor) to the current date. I did not find this info into the orbiter.pdf.

I tried and it's not working !

Thanks

Withing Doc folder there is the ScenarioEditor.pdf. Page 11 (art. 2.11) gives some indications on how the date is changed, especially when there are vessels already in flight in the scenario.

As for a fresh start simulation scenario - quick and dirty: just edit the date line into the respective scenario file (.scn). Example:

BEGIN_ENVIRONMENT
System Sol
Date MJD 60582.619387
END_ENVIRONMENT

Hope this helps.

thanks

I found another thing: Scenario Editor / button -) DATE... and button NOW

Maybe this fits here:
When setting the Modified Julian Date (MJD) to zero in the Date.exe tool, it shows this was midnight on 17 November 1858.
Was there any special event on this day?
Or did a sleepless astronomer say "Hey, its such a lovely night, lets start counting a new date from now."

Date.exe tool of Orbiter is another fine example of the precise scientific nature of Orbiter sim. Yes indeed, MJD starts counting (epoch) on midnight 17th of November 1858.
This epoch is given by the computer limitations back in the 1950s, when SmithsonianOA decided to start MJD counting (in 1957 - the Sputnik year).
A good read about it can be found here
