Eclipse is a good IDE and they've got PC, Mac, and Linux packages.

Get some plugins for eclipse and you can work in most languages. (I've been using Notepad++ for most of my programing needs recently, but its pc only.)

I'd like to add some others to the list but this requires a little organization and I lack of time. Simply, I discovered that one this morning and it will surely help me, if I used until now other software, can be a bit heavier ( XnView, DxtBmp...).

Be carefull wit the dds viewer : check, as usual, the associated extension's list ( "set files association's icon" before loading any image )

Oh, and in the same moment, Context Viewer, that I had not used since some years and that I rediscovered :

Run the installer.
Later, dblclick on the : DDS_support.tvx.

Now, one can see ( on WindowsXP SP1, here ) dds files as thumbnails ( miniatures in french ) in each folder .

And obviously IE for testing, because there is always problems to solve with IE (I admit, less since v8).

Movie Maker is actually easy-to-use, even for its limited features.
Try Final Cut Pro, over-complicates simple things, unlike Sony Vegas.

For free, there is AVS Video Editor. And for $60, Sony Vegas Platinum 9 on eBay.

I just recently found this free and easy program called fences. Basically you can create fences for your desktop icons and name them. There are a few more features as well. There is another great feature that I think is worth getting the program just for it. You can double click the desktop and have all icons and fences disappear leaving you with just your background to enjoy.
