My space travel

Maybe the default Orbiter package could contain one additional star, like Proxima Centauri, with a few planets.

Not a bad idea, but why bother with it when there're plenty of star systems on the OH already?

In addition, the community can continue the Orbiter Galaxy effort.

Its developer is involved in two ongoing projects right now and not going to switch back to OG for a while.

Then, it would be a blast to see the community create additional ships specifically for interstellar flights (which would require 'generational' ships).

I did this using IMS and OrbiterGalaxy together. It's working the way it is, if little clumsy.

Fantastic. Once I learn the basics without virtually killing myself, destroying my craft, or hurting anyone else, I will take a look at it. :tiphat:

Hi, PhantonCruiser!

Yes, I'm curious to see how far I can go in orbiter, I'm curious to see what it's like when the space craft is at uniform rest (not moving at all) when the spacecraft is more than 2 light years or about over 126,600 AU or over 18,000,000,000,000 kilometers or about 11,000,000,000,000 miles away from the sun and I'm doing the space flight what I'm doing now for fun!!

Cheers,
Vincent

I'm thinking about sponsoring another Space Travel expedition. Don't know all the details yet or what the destination is.

Hi, guys!

I'm now 4,575,000,000,000 kilometers or 30,582 AU away from the sun and moving at the speed of 532,086 kilometers per second!!

Cheers,
Vincent

I can't imagine the cost of a phone call from that distance. I'd reverse the carges myself. It's going to be as high as your electric bill for this epic journey I think.
It must be very cold, dark and lonely out there vinny5000. :(

But keep it going...

Hi, PennyBlack!

Yes, it is very cold, dark and lonely out there alright! The temperature out there is -271 degrees Celsius or about -470 degrees Fahrenheit. The sun on the other hand is long disappeared from view!!!

Cheers,
Vincent

Hi, guys!

I got the video of my space travel on YouTube. It is called an example of interstellar spaceflight in orbiter! Please check it out! Thanks!

Vincent

Hi, guys!

Since I'm now 4,639,000,000,000 kilometers or 31,010 AU away from the sun, 20,000 miles or 105,600,000 feet is nothing that far out!!!!

Cheers,
Vincent

Considering it takes almost six months for his messages to radio back to us . . .

Hi, guys!

I'm now 4,886,730,000,000 kilometers or 32,666 AU away a from the sun and moving at the speed of 549,967 kilometers per second!

Vincent

Hi, RisingFury!!

I'm way out in deep space alright!! Like I said, the sun is long disappeared from view!!

Cheers,
Vincent

i accidentally posted a very irrelevent post here, so i'll edit it to say i've been enjoying your voyage into the abyss vinny. keep up the er.. good work

Hi, Tomthenose!

Thanks! Yes, I've been enjoying my voyage into very deep space!

Cheers,
Vincent

Hey Vinny5000!

It's been entertaining to see your adventures so far. You said earlier that you just leave Orbiter open with engines blasting away I was wondering, do you have a dedicated computer set up for this, or do you do other stuff on the computer while orbiter is running?

Hi, meson800!

Yes, I just leave orbiter running and the rocket engines blasting away. I'm using the Delta-glider IV-3 with unlimited fuel!

Cheers,
Vincent

Someone needs to build an add-on which goes all 2001:A Space Odyssey when approaching and then exceeding C.
